Sinossi

You’re busy right? Of course you are! With the go-go-go of our lifestyles we are constantly being distracted in a good way. We have so many forms of entertainment that the thought of reading a book seems archaic. Something our parents or grandparents used to do as they sat on the porch or cuddled up next to the orange glow of a warm fireplace. They set aside time to read a good book. The worn pages and the fading images on the cover was a badge of honour. It was something that declared to the on-looker “This book has been pre-loved” If that sounds appealing to you, but you don’t have the time anymore, then this book is for you.

In the early part of 2010, I set myself a challenge that I would write a short story every day for as long as I could. It would be simple, short and wouldn’t take too much of my time as I was still in College at that point. I was a fan of a site called Ficly.com which was a writing community that allowed you to post short stories and any of it’s users were able to post a prequel or sequel to your own story. Almost always the prequels and sequels made the original story that much more epic and awesome! The only catch; each story had to be 1,024 characters long. That’s right, not words, characters. It’s great for writers as it helps you become economical with your story. Cut out the fluff and get to the heart of the idea. So I posted all my short stories there and released them in a free email newsletter for people who were fans of my blog. Some really great stories and some awesome snippets of stories have come out of that six months, so I thought why not grab over 100 of them and put them together into this collection. Don’t be alarmed at how many stories there are, see that’s the thing, each story is meant to be read beginning to end in two minutes. If you’re on a bus and need something to distract you from that creepy guy that’s staring at you, read a two minute story. If you are waiting to hop on the plane to Hawaii (why am I not coming with you?), read a two minute story. If you are standing in the long line at the bank to withdraw $5,000 to give to me (I’ll accept it in $100 bills please), read a two minute story. If you are…I think you get the idea.

It's hard to choose a favorite. God Made This, Love on a Bus, Web surfer and Why I Love Reading were all so great! So were many others, too numerous to mention. Since I work with IT, the I AM A GEEK! is one I want to share too.

I loved the concept of disciplined writing in exactly 1,024 characters. It is amazing how much of a picture one can paint. Time flew by as I read one after another. I appreciated the difficulty of keeping in the limit.

Few grammar issues (mostly misuse of it's for its)

A bonus, this has a Creative Commons license! :) instead of the dreary "mine mine mine"

Tense changes, misspellings, verb confusion, and object misuse make these 2 minute stories absolutely agonizing to read, and some simply can't be sorted out. Who killed who? And switches between I and he indicate rapid changes not reviewed. I'm sure these could have been interesting stories, but they are mostly unintelligible due to the above problem.s
