10+ years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic disease. Fall 2013 the author of "Alternative Revelations" gave me a copy of her book on a DVD. We both live in St. Louis. Upon hearing the author speak, one can tell she seriously believes the things she says, even when there is solid proof to the contrary. The author appears to be a conspiracy theorist, as it seems like everything is a conspiracy to her. When I was first diagnosed, I researched everything I could get my hands on about my diagnosis, so was already aware of some of the information in "Alternative Revelations". Many of the products and claims the author makes are not backed by empirical research. I knew nothing about the author before fall 2013, which means I cannot make a claim of knowing her before and after she became well. Some of the interventions she lists in her book are down right dangerous. In particular, IV treatment of mild silver protein, which she claims she was cured by this intervention by an "alternative doc" in Birmingham, AL. The author claims this "alternative doc" is no longer available to provide this intervention for people. I wonder why. I spoke with several naturopathic docs on the spoke who practice in Seattle (as Bastyr University, Seattle has an outstanding naturopathic medical program), and each said they would never use this intervention on patients, as it was dangerous. I wasn't willing to take the word of the author who could not produce the person who "cured" her over the word of respected naturopathic doctors who are practicing all kinds of alternative interventions to help people. I cannot explain the mystery of the author's "cure". I am glad she is well. I am not sure there is anything in "Alternative Revelations" that is believable.
IF YOU WANT TO GET WELL, I can lead you in the right direction. After reading "Alternative Revelations" I was even more determined to find an intervention that could help me other than the toxic/expensive drugs the industry has to offer. So, I have to say I am very thankful I met the author and read the book, because it catapulted me on another journey to find something that has helped me and possibly even provided a cure. At the very least a remission.
Quite accidentally, I discovered two books by two legitimate doctors, one in CA and one in NJ, who each have a thriving practice helping people get well. Please do not be turned off by their business. People are allowed to capitalize on their knowledge and make money. I make no money from posting this information and neither is aware I have written this review. The intervention is nutrition therapy, using whole, nutritious foods to cure. The first book I read was "The Starch Solution" by Dr. John McDougall. The second book I read was "Super Immunity" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. While Dr. McDougall's book has been criticized by some because the research he documents in the book is older, it discusses the politics of the food industry. Dr. Fuhrman's documentation is newer and more detailed. Dr. Fuhrman has a background in nutrition, which most docs don't. These books saved me from a life of chronic illness and toxic drugs to super health and no drugs. While there are differences between the two doctors, their basic premise remains the same: Eliminate all animal products from your diet, including dairy, and eliminate all refined oils. This means one only eats a 100% plant-based diet. What? Impossible you say. Well, it has been a challenge, and I admit having struggled in the beginning, but the transition wasn't as difficult as I thought. I was a vegetarian most of my adult life, but supplemented with dairy. Fall 2013 I made a commitment to become a Vegan after purchasing cookbooks by these authors and a cookbook call "The Happy Herbivore Abroad". I have been clean from all the toxic meds I was taking and am doing extremely well. I have no symptoms of the chronic disease. It's call "spontaneous healing." The body has a remarkable ability to heal itself, if one gives it the right things. I encourage anyone who has a chronic disease to check out the websites by Dr. McDougall and Dr. Fuhrman before buying anything. In fact, one can probably start cooking from the recipes on the sites without purchasing any cookbooks. Each site has recipe tabs and there are also testimonials by patients who reveal their names and where they live. Dr. McDougall's site lists testimonials of patients with every chronic disease you can think of, plus a few people who were diagnosed with cancer.
Information is power. I encourage anyone who reads this with a chronic disease to use it to your advantage. Will it be difficult? Probably. Will it be worth it? Yes. It has been for me. I wish you the best and nothing but good health starting today.
