HASH(0xaa78a0a8) su 5 stelle Quick Read w/ Some Useful Tips. Nice Price! 16 marzo 2015

This was a short book, so I’ll give it a short review. Basically, 101 Autodesk Maya Tips is exactly what it sounds like: a compilation of quick tips for using Autodesk Maya. Some of the tips are as brief as one sentence, but a few are more involved. It seemed like the majority of the content was based around Mel scripting, and various ways to automate particular tasks. I have not worked with Mel scripting much, and am still trying to wrap my head around the interface and UI of Maya. Girard does, thankfully, include some more basic tips as well.

With a book like this, I was not expecting any grand revelations. The goal appears to be just to highlight some shortcuts and methods for getting more out of Maya. Certainly, I can’t complain about the price (at $3) and I finished the book in probably about an hour. All in all, I guess only really a handful of the tips were immediately useful to me, though it was great to see what’s possible. For that, I found it worth the meager cost and time investment. Hopefully you will find some value too in this quick read.

This book worked very well for adding polish to our cross-platform pipeline. It has a lot of great tips bundled in one concise volume and jumps straight in to them with appropriate explanation into why the tip works. The format is GREAT as well : "Tip #4. This is what the tip accomplishes" followed by how to execute it. A fast read and very detailed with appropriate directories and related information where necessary. Very useful to reference later when needed with the highlighting feature in the Kindle app. Highly recommended!

Every experienced Maya user who knows his tool should know at least 50% of this book, 10% may be useless for your work depending on what you do, but even the 40% you didn't know and is quite useful and worth the price.

I do recommend this for beginners / students with some experience to improve their workflow.
For veterans, it is till nice read and cheaper than a big mac.

After reading just the first 20 tips, I found a slew of ways to make my time in Maya easier and more effective. There are nice deliniations for Linux, Windows, and Mac, plus the book considers different renderers, like Mental Ray and Vray. Easy to read and a definite recommendation to anyone looking to make their Maya sessions a better experience.
