Sinossi

HE'LL GO TO THE ENDS OF THE GALAXY TO SAVE HIS BROTHER AND SISTER.

The New Gaian Empire is crumbling. An undefeatable enemy from the outer reaches is sweeping across the frontier stars, slagging worlds and sowing chaos. Soon, they will threaten the very heart of civilized space.

James McCoy never thought he would get caught up in the Hameji wars. The youngest son of a merchanter family, he just wants the same respect as his older brother and sister. But when the Hameji battle fleets conquer his home world and take them away from him, all of that is shattered forever.

No prisoner has ever escaped from the Hameji alive, but James isn't going to let that stop him. He'll do whatever it takes to save his family—even if it means losing everything in the process.

A 110,000 word (280-320 page) novel of Gaia Nova. Other books in the Gaia Nova universe include:

SHOLPAN
DESERT STARS
STAR WANDERERS
STARS OF BLOOD AND GLORY (forthcoming)

WARNING: Contains some adult content including torture, gun violence, rape, and sexual themes. If this were a movie, it would probably be rated PG-13.

I liked the fresh perspectives and thought the vignets on civic duty and such made this a more interesting story than the too common intrepid warrior thing. How Stella ended up making her decision at the end seemed the weakest part, but it was a better story than some of the veteran big-name authors who stay with popular trends I've read lately. This is a fine sequel to Genesis Earth.Go Joe!

Having seen an early draft, I was very pleased to get my hands on the finished copy of Bringing Stella Home and read it in a few sittings (I'm a speed reader, so don't worry about a short length). Bringing Stella Home is an engaging book that is as much a study of human culture in the future as it is an adventure novel. While sometimes it could feel a little heavy on the political spectrum, it was kept relevant to the overall plot of clashing cultures and the rise and fall of...well, I'll let you read the book to find out on your own.

Overall, Bringing Stella Home is a fun read. The dialog flows naturally, the characters feel independent in voice and mentality, and the progression of events feels real. A good read, and I'll be looking for the forthcoming sequel.

4.0 su 5 stelle Realistic and thought provoking 3 novembre 2011
Di Wallace Brown - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Vasicek continues to show his understanding of how things work in space. His description and use of advanced weaponry and tactics useable only in space were awesome.

The storyline is solid and keeps an excellent flow of viewpoints among the brothers and sister in the war-separated family. This change of viewpoints keeps the story fluid in its progress. James McCoy often comes off as being naive and immature as he displays his "at-any-cost" determination to save his siblings. This creates a more realistic storyline than most books can give. I mean how many teenagers would actually be able to come up with a good plan for rescuing their brother and sister who have been captured by a terrifying enemy army?

I rate this as four stars rather than five because of a few spots in the book that felt like the author was just telling everything that happened without showing any of it.

I recommend this book to any sci-fi reader out there.
