The mathematical puzzle CalcuDoku is fast becoming very popular. Solving one takes a combination of Sudoku-style logic reasoning and basic math skills, making it a much more interesting and satisfying puzzle. However, it is still not easy to find challenging CalcuDoku puzzles. This book has only those: 101 puzzles, each of which will keep even experienced puzzlers busy for at least half an hour. Included are, for example, puzzles using zero, the modulo operator, many 10x10 puzzles, one 12x12 puzzle, and even one 15x15 puzzle! The puzzles are printed at a large size, leaving plenty of space for notes. The third edition has twenty of the popular new "twin" puzzles: pairs of puzzles with the same solution, but with a different layout, so you can use clues from each puzzle to solve both.

I stumbled on Patrick Min's website while surfing for a source for more challenging Calcudoku/KenKen puzzles. His puzzles are that and innovative. His easy puzzles equate to the NY Times hard -- his hard can be off the charts but all the more satisfying when solved. He also makes use of nontraditional operators and zero in some of his puzzles. I highly recommend this book for the avid solver.

I was looking for a variant for regular sudoku, which has become played out, this book has great challenging puzzles, that use zero, the modulo operator, etc.
There are many 10x10 puzzles, as well as a 12x12 and a 15x15. These puzzles will keep you busy for hours.

This book is for advanced Sudoku/Ken-Ken lovers who are looking for a challenge. The puzzles, which utilize standard operators and the modulo function, are rated from "easy" to "nearly impossible." (My experience indicated some disagreements with the rating system, but that could just be a function of my approach to the puzzles.) The puzzle sizes range from 6x6 (for twin puzzles where two puzzles are solved simultaneously) to 10x10.
No solutions are provided in the book. For me, this was a plus, since it eliminated my tendency to peek at the answers and instead forced me to work harder at finding the solutions. Getting the solutions does require the solver to email Patrick Min; when I tried that, a reply came back very quickly with the solution.
