Poston, Sr. (February 14, 1898—November 1968), was a railroad employee from Hornbeck, a small town in Vernon Parish in western Louisiana, who served a single term from 1960-1964 as a Democratic state senator from what is now District 30 (Beauregard, Calcasieu, Sabine, and Vernon parishes). At the time, Poston’s constituency did not include the current precincts in Calcasieu Parish. Poston did not seek a second term in 1964; instead his son, Bryan A. Poston, a businessman also from Hornbeck, was elected to succeed him. Bryan Poston held the Senate seat from 1964–1992, when he retired and was replaced by James David Cain of Dry Creek in Beauregard Parish.
