I read through this book ridiculously quickly. There was no point where it dragged!
This was a great book about the paranormal, but it was also an inspiring book about filmmaking in general. Groff has an energy, enthusiasm and positivity that reminds me a lot of Robert Rodriguez in "Rebel Without a Crew". To be honest, I was kind of in a bummed-out mood before I read this book, but it gave me a fresh burst of energy seeing how much of a 'doer' Groff is. I mean, previous to reading this book, I had no idea that Groff did most of the editing of GHOST ADVENTURES himself. For some reason I pictured a team of editors working on the shows, but the fact that each episode was like they were making one Indie film after another really elevated my respect for these guys to an even higher level.
But, yes, seeing how prolific this dude is just made me want to get out there and start doing, doing, doing even more...not that I've been that much of a slacker, but still. Like Groff used to be, I am currently a wedding videographer myself and he helped me understand why doing so many wedding videos was actually helpful to my filmmaking craft (I've been trying to justify the work lately). If you're first starting out in the field of filmmaking, you just have to film and edit whatever. Even if it's not CITIZEN KANE it's still going to help you grow and shape your craft.
Not to self-promote, but check out my website [...] to see my own short paranormal 30min documentary entitled "A Parallel World", about a haunted house on Cape Cod that my aunt and Uncle were renting one winter. You'll also see on my website that I've explored and documented my research into other dimensions of the spirit world, including identifying/communicating with my spirit guides and discovering my past lives, one of which allegedly took place in early 20th century Hollywood. I feel that ghosts are on one dimension, but there are higher dimensions where there are spirit guides and then on even higher levels there are ascended masters and on higher levels there are angels etc. I know it all sounds New-Agey but I feel that once the existence of ghosts has been explored thoroughly enough, spirit guides and masters and angels may be the next entities to look at. Imagine getting EVPs from Angels (or is that even possible?) Maybe there's another tool that allows us to communicate with higher entities. Anyway, just thinking out loud here. Great job again, Nick!
