Sinossi

After almost two hundred years in a deep slumber, Eclavadra awakens to the startling realization of how much time has passed and what she has become. Eclavadra becomes the dark goddess who rules the night. Being a Vampire gives Eclavadra superiority over mere mortals, especially men. Even with the disadvantage of her 1820’s paradigm, she manages to lure a man named Bob to be her slave. Assuming the name of Billy Jean, Eclavadra explores the “new world.”

The story attempts to address Existentialism. Indicative of the name Decision in the Night, the underline theme is “We are our decisions,” both of the anti-heroes, Eclavadra and G’ee come to this ultimate realization. G’ee faces introspective issues; he is forced to examine the ethics and morality of his chosen trade, in the end he finds even exiting what he has deemed to an immoral profession a laborious undertaking with consequences.

Edward Adams attended the Pennsylvania State University. Adams Joined the United States Navy where he served for six years. In his late thirties Adams in a fortuitous by chance happening along the way was handed Nietzsche’s Thus spoke Zarathustra. Henceforth Adams developed an insatiable hunger for self knowledge and universality.

5.0 su 5 stelle Engaging, Human and Strong 25 luglio 2013

Fans of vampire books are used to strong, sensual and intriguing characters, but Edward E. Adams' Decisions in the Night presents readers with an unique female vampire that will leave them thirsting for more. It has been said before that most themes have already been explored many times over, therefore, a writer today must engage readers with more than a good teal. Adams certainly manages to do so by crafting one of the most compelling female leads in recent memory. Eclavadra is complex, and Adams does an excellent job of focusing more on what makes her human than her supernatural powers. In doing so, readers will connect with the story and invest their emotions into the outcome. Eclavadra is a thoughtful portrait of a woman cursed to immortality, at once she is tough yet vulnerable, too. She would be a fine character to build any series on, not just one featuring immortals.
5.0 su 5 stelle The strange tale of a Existential Vampiress extraordinaire 28 maggio 2011

I found this particular piece to be invigorating. Existence reviewed through the eyes of a vampire, she comes to the ultimate realization; she has created her own essences.
I don't want to give the plot away. I'll attempt to succinctly encapsulate. A Vampiress finds herself entombed. After clearing the cob-webs, she realizes she has been in a spell induced slumber for "several years". Waking in Europe, she aspires to make her way to the new world. Through usurpation and mind penetration, she acquires the funds and man-power needed to accomplish said task.
An interesting sub-plot revolves around a merchant of sorts. He to realizes he has been trying to live his life in accordance to the idea. His idea of women, money and even the "idea" of what a man of the world should be all reverberate around what popular-culture dictates.
The ending really floored me; I'll not spoil the ending by recounting it, but man what a surprise.
