A First of May is a true story about the wonderful world of the circus and circus people. In 1949 and 1950 I was an aerialist with Cole Brothers circus. My book is an inside look under the big top at wire walkers, elephant acts, acrobats, clowns and the fabulous aerial ballet girls. It's about twenty-five girls living on the circus trains, performing in different towns every day; young girls learning the ropes and finding their way in a new and exciting life. Of course, some names have been changed.
