Fay Famaghetti is ready for a change, but she never expected to be introduced to the man of her fantasies through her new career in Long Island, New York. Richie is make-your-knees-go-weak sexy, and fate seems to be rewarding Fay’s struggle to break free of her loveless marriage and her family’s strangle hold on her destiny. The unique opportunity to work in a traditionally male-dominated profession had been too good to pass up, and with only an accounting degree and her supercharged ambition, she decided to exchange the daily drudgery for a chance to prosper as a broker at a mortgage firm. However, when Fay falls for Richie, begins an affair, and discovers his step-over-the-line brand of sex, she realizes she may never be on safe ground again. Willfully seduced by the greed of the era and prospering in the murky waters of a corrupted system, Fay quickly gets in over her head while mixing business with pleasure within the treacherous industry that helped tumble the world’s greatest economy.

Kept my interest and attention right from the beginning! The premise was clearly shown and the family references wre right on the money. The sexual content was subtly shown but not overpowering and definitely fit right in with the theme of the book.Showed the seemy side of the business.Have asked friends of mine who are and were in the business for their thoughts and they agreed with the book totally.a must read!!!!For her first venture into writing...I can only hope it isn't her last!!!!!!!!

This book was recommended to me by a member of my family. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and felt like I was "in the mix" of every page! I have a Kindle and read a lot and I have to feel the connection within the first few pages or I lose interest and this one certainly held my interest from beginning to end. I want the author to write a sequel so I can know what happens to Fay, Richie and the Famaghetti family!

4.0 su 5 stelle Great beach read this summer! 17 maggio 2012
Di Wendy L. Hines - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Wow! When I first read the synopsis for this book, I thought it would be a light, fluffy chick-lit book. I was so wrong and I'm so glad! Flipping journey's a few years in the life of Fay Famaghetti. She is tired of the restaurant business so she leaps at the opportunity to become a real estate broker. Remember back in before the recession when housing was booming? That's where Fay decides she is gonna get rich quick and damn anything in her way, including her husband. She begins a fling with her mentor, who already has a girlfriend. When the blocks start to tumble down around her head, Fay has to pay the price for her selfishness and greed. But will the cost be too high?

Ellenton's Fay is realistic and modern - easy to vision and relate able. I'm sure most of us have met a "Fay" at some point in our lives. I was really intrigued with the real estate world, the way that Ellenton wrote it. Normally, it isn't something that would hold my attention, but I understand so much more now and am thankful for it. The story is a little long, but the writing is strong and seamless. If you're looking for a new beach read this summer, pick up Flipping!

4.0 su 5 stelle Flipping good read ... 21 maggio 2012
Di Nathalie's Notes - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle
In her debut novel Flipping, Mary A. Ellenton manages to make the mortgage industry seem as sexy as it does scandalous. Fay Famaghetti knows she's ready for something more exciting than working in her family's Italian restaurant but the opportunities that come her way after moving from her hometown in Brooklyn to Long Island, New York might be more than she had in mind.
Except that impending disaster is difficult to see coming, especially when you're enjoying yourself. Like many real-life Americans who suffered personally at the hands of those overcome by greed and corruption, Fay finds herself initially enthralled and eventually seduced by a life far beyond her values.
Flipping is an alluring fictional depiction of how the real estate bubble grew as big as it did before finally imploding a few years ago. Ellenton deftly weaves realistic details of the industry into the narrative making the reader nearly complicit in Fay's rise and fall on the roller coaster of real estate in recent years.
As Fay juggles her career ambitions and new interests with her troubled marriage, doting son and difficult family she learns that home doesn't come with price tag and is about much more than where you came from.
