Hamilton Hill is a neighborhood of Schenectady, New York, United States. Begun as a blue-collar neighborhood for General Electric employees, the neighborhood today is considered distressed due to its inclusion in the state''s Empire Zone and its listing as a Federal Renewal Community. The neighborhood has the highest percentage among Schenectady''s neighborhoods of low and moderate income households, very low income households, residents who live below the poverty level, and of minorities. The oldest Black church in Schenectady has been in Hamilton Hill since 1870. Hamilton Hill is a part of the Schenectady City School District and the children attend William C. Keane Elementary School in the community, and then go on to the Mont Pleasant Middle School and Schenectady High School. The Schenectady County Public Library has a local branch in Hamilton Hill on the second floor of the Carver Community Center.
