This is a very rich collection of poems by West Virginia's late poet laureate, Irene McKinney. McKinney tackles mortality, spirituality, nature, and many other themes in her collection. There are some very powerful poems here, including the final few poems, "Give It," and "This House," which describe in incredible detail McKinney's battle with illness and the final days of her life.
Other poems discuss people that she's met through hospital visits, and her work as a poet laureate. All in all, it's a very powerful testament to her life, and her life's work. I'm sure that fans of her writing will really be touched by this collection.
