Only thing worth owning from the whole "Michael" Project 6 dicembre 2011
Di The D Man - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Vinile
In December 2010 the album "Michael" came out and contained 3 songs which had lead vocals that sounded nothing like MJ (he wasn't even credited for lead vocals in the albums own booklet on those 3 from what I've seen). There were some fantastic songs that were done well like "Much Too Soon", "Hold My Hand" and "Best of Joy". However the leaked early snippet of "Another Day" was fantastic but it got a terrible reworking for the final version. "Hollywood Tonight" and "The Way You Love Me" were fine tracks but the vocals had really bad autotone effects applied to them that were especially apparent when viewing the original versions from leaked snippets of the former and the 2004 Ultimate Collection version of the later. Behind the Mask has seemingly untouched vocals but had pretty mediocre instrumentation (not the original from the demo) and dragged on a bit too long.

This is the perfect release because it solved the problems the songs original had and really are the best versions of these two great tracks. Hollywood Tonight is the "throwback mix" which is a newer version where they toned down the autotuning (confirmed by producer Teddy Riley and easily noticeable), added a new drum beat that is closer to the original recording, and took out the terrible spoken bridge section that was performed by Taryll Jackson (Micheal's nephew).

Behind the Mask is a radio edit that takes out alot of the pointless effects that were on the original version like long sax solos, slow build up, and extra voice clips that were added in from the Dangerous Tour DVD version. Normally I would easily prefer the longest version of any MJ track, but the edited form of both Hollywood Tonight and Behind The Mask are easily superior. The vinyl is very thin but the sound quality is fantastic, I believe this is the only vinyl release from the entire "Michael" project. Despite my dislike for the "Michael" album because of poor decisions on the Estate's part, the songs presented on this 7" are fantastic, in their best form, and sound great. I got this back in April for Record Store Day and am happy to see the price hasn't been inflated like some releases.
