While searching for her fairy godmother, a young girl uncovers a world of magic

It starts with chocolates. Dreaming of a box of chocolates that never empties, Angela writes a letter to her fairy godmother asking for one. To her surprise, the fairy writes back! A letter appears on her mantelpiece from “Pilaria of the Kingdom of the Faeries,” written on ancient parchment with purple ink, and covered in a gold dust that vanishes as soon as it flies into the air. Is this really a letter from the land of magic? And if so, what does it mean?
Angela and her two best friends begin investigating the mystery, searching Angela’s house for clues. But out of the blue, more letters appear on Angela’s mantelpiece. Pilaria is lonesome, and as curious about the girls’ world as they are about her kingdom. What they learn from their correspondence with this enchanting godmother will change everything they know—about magic and reality—forever.
This ebook features a personal history by Janet Taylor Lisle including rare images and never-before-seen documents from the author’s own collection.

The Gold Dust Letters is a very exciting and magical book. Palaria, the main character, is a fairy and leaves golden dust on letters that she writes to three girls. The girls try to see her during their sleepovers. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

5.0 su 5 stelle Magic and Realism in a True Faerie Tale 29 gennaio 2013
Di TeacherWriter - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Copertina flessibile
Who doesn't love a grand faerie tale? When Angela and her friends discover letters that shed gold dust signed by a faerie, they're transported into a world of magic. The characters offset each other nicely, with one friend inclined to believe in magic, another friend suitably pragmatic, and the third friend believing she communicates with her pets. The three girls set off on a quest to discover the truth behind the letters. However, when dealing with magic, the truth is sometimes hard to find.

This is a delightful story perfect for reading to anyone who wonders if magic and faeries are real. It brings with it a sense of a time long ago, yet it maintains a modern setting. Janet Taylor Lisle has artfully combined magic and realism in this novelette.

When I read it, I was transported back to my own childhood, when faeries were definitely real, and when gold dust would have been the epitome of magic. I highly recommend it.

It was an amazing book. I thought that it was a good topic and that it had some upsetting parts. I think that kids and teachers should read that book.
