Many of you have watched a movie or seen a program on television that dealt with life over a hundred years ago, and thought to yourself, how life seemed so idyllic and simple then. Some may even wish we had those times once again. What if something unimaginable happened? What would life be like if we were hit by an EMP caused by solar storms stemming forth from the sun, or even something more sinister, an attack on our country by nuclear or other means that not only disrupted our power grid but also caused all electrical and electronic devices to stop working? How would you cope in this situation? What if the cause were never known? All you knew was that whatever was happening, the government was taking full advantage of it, even to suspending elections, the Constitution and having UN troops assisting to help control the population and individual states. This is the story of two men, Vinnie, a retired Police Officer, living in rural northern New Hampshire with his wife, mother-in-law, and Bernie, his feisty eighty-eight year old WW2 veteran friend. Vinnie is thrust into a situation where it is up to him to help take care of his family and neighbors. Vinnie always thought that in such an emergency, people would start to act crazy after three days of limited food and essential items. What surprised him most was that it took less than two days for his fears to come to true. He now has to deal with roving bands of looters, a lawless society and an unknown enemy. Was the whole world going crazy or was this just a bad dream?

2.0 su 5 stelle A very weird ending 3 ottobre 2013
Di Nmantime - Pubblicato su

Interesting concepts. Just not interwoven into a storyline that keeps you interested. This was just so jump here, jump there and a very, very weird ending. I would love to see what a more experienced author could have done with this. This was a put some words to paper and let's make money quick. If you like this genre don't fall for this one. Many many better books of this type out there.

1.0 su 5 stelle Good Story, Bad Execution 24 novembre 2013

This book has a potentially interesting plot framework, set in a geographic location that many readers may not find familiar. The list of characters is good, and their actions are -- for the most part -- believable. There is some instruction for "preppers" here, and some passable description of weaponry. That's the good news.

The bad news is, the book screams for a competent proofreader and editor. Lacking both, it is actually almost painful to read, and not because of plot developments. Put simply, it was apparently published without the proper "due diligence" being applied to syntax and spelling errors, stilted dialogue, punctuation, and plot inconsistencies. Because of this, I have to invoke an axiom: "Many of those who can write don't, and too many of those who can't do."

I removed this book from my device after suffering through more than half of it. Be your own judge.

4.0 su 5 stelle What an ending! 17 settembre 2013
Di SheWoff - Pubblicato su

Okay, I liked the story but it felt like they were just not making that much of an effort at the end of the world as we know it to focus on basics like growing a garden, securing a water supply that wont freeze up in the north country, little things like that. Seemed like they were more focused on security issues instead. But it's a guys story, wrote from a male point of view. That's why I gave it four stars instead of five. The ending is bizarre and got me to laugh out loud! Not going to give it away but it was sure different than any other I have read. It's really easy to read which I liked right away and the story does flow well. No problems with grammar that I read. Over all, a very good read and look forward to more.

1.0 su 5 stelle No Ending 4 ottobre 2013

Good story going but apparently author just got tired of writing or couldn't figure out where to go so just suddenly makes it have never happened and then quickly kills everyone off and declares "the end".

1.0 su 5 stelle don't waste your money 5 ottobre 2013

This book is poorly written, poorly edited and a really dumb plot. Do not waste your time or money. A third grader wrote this book I think.
