Yeah, this will make you laugh and then again a week later when it pops back into your mind in the shower. This read made me feel like there is still hope for our crazy culture, as good humor must do. Good historical context.

I purchased this book only because it was written by someone I knew and went to school with. I enjoyed the book immensely. This is a very entertaining read and I appreciate that it was written in a way that kept me engrossed and turning pages. Thank you John for sharing some of the funnier and not so funny moments you have experienced! Many parts of this book actually brought back memories long forgotten from my own life experiences.

Raw and real! 21 agosto 2013

While the summer jobs of my youth contained less raw sewage than a typical day in the author's life, Marsh Township Sanitary District transported me to the years of enlightenment that marked the coming-of-age threshold to adulthood. Universal in its message, Scariano's work of art ignites the sights, sounds, and smells of an era that resides in each of us. This book is best savored slowly.
What's brown and sounds like a bell...................DUNG! 9 giugno 2015

Marsh Township Sanitary District is a riotous recollection of the author's Summer job working in a waste treatment facility south of Chicago. I recently read the book while laying on the beach in Mexico and it turned out to be a perfect vacation companion. Dr. Scariano skillfully brings us back to the 1970's, the people we grew up with and the grim Summer employment we found. MTSD goes where few books have gone before, revealing both the deep scars, and yes nostalgia, of having worked knee deep (maybe deeper) in human excrement. The picture he paints of the misfits he worked with and the nature of the work itself is worth the price of the book alone. Both my wife and I were thoroughly entertained, often laughing out loud for no apparent reason on the beaches of Huatulco.
