Sinossi

When Detective Sergeant Bob Duncan was assigned to investigate a routine rape case, it turned out to be anything but routine. First, he ran afoul of his boss, who was wasting perfectly good air just by breathing it. Taken off the case and transferred to traffic detail, he bumped into the victim, who wasn't all that happy with him either, because she took his advice and it ruined her life. But somehow, he and the victim became friends. Good friends, in fact. And it looked like that friendship might blossom into something very special, when their lives took yet another crazy twist and Bob had to decide whether to arrest her for a crime... a crime she couldn't remember committing... a crime that might land the woman who loved him in prison for the rest of her life. Somehow one of the best cops in the city found himself withholding evidence on what looked an awful lot like murder. And when she suddenly remembered what she had done, it looked like it would all fall apart. She had a conscience, and while Bob could ignore the facts, for love ... she could not. She placed her fate - and their future - in the hands of twelve jurors, jurors who struggled to understand the true meaning of the word "justice."

Warning: This is an adult novel with adult content and language. While primarily a story about romance and hope, there are some very dark scenes in the book which, in addition to authentically described sex scenes, are not appropriate for persons under the age of eighteen.

5.0 su 5 stelle A Fun Read 2 aprile 2011
Di Robert Reisig - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle
Just some thoughts about this story. I enjoyed it as much or more than "Jesse Stone" works by Robert Parker or mysteries by Michael Connelly.
Our hero is a seasoned cop whose life compass clearly and strongly points North/South. He meets a crime victim that starts to pull his compass sideways, almost making him lose his way. Ultimately, both he and the victim recover their directions and put their lives back in order.
Lubrican fleshes out the protagonist pretty well but I think it's because there is a lot of Lubrican in Bob Duncan, detective. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did. The title will mean a whole lot more to you at the end.

5.0 su 5 stelle As Usual 5 marzo 2012

As usual in "Mistrusting A Memory" Robert Lubrican delivers his characteristicly well thought out and fleshed out protagonists involved in searching out the meaningful relationships in their lives while struggling with the restrictions society attempts to mold and bind them with. Dectective Bob Duncan falls for the victim of a rape case who, by coincidence may or may not have been responsible for retaliation against her rapist. Now if only she could quit 'mistrusting a memory". Having read extensively from Lubrican's voluminous writings I can say this story delivers what Robert is known for. A thought provoking story with humor and sex mingled in an entertaining read. 5 out of 5 from me.

5.0 su 5 stelle Quintessential Crime Drama 21 maggio 2011
Di John L. Viescas - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle
If you like crime drama, this should be at the top of your list. It has everything: a serial rapist, a very competent police detective being thwarted by a bungling police department, a victim who is injured and loses parts of her memory, a psychiatrist who helps her remember and deal with the consequences, an over-confident district attorney, and gripping courtroom drama. Yes, this book also contains erotica, but it adds to the story in a meaningful way. The rapes are not described in gruesome detail, but what really happens when two people fall in love is. A thoroughly outstanding read.

5.0 su 5 stelle Another excellent story... 25 giugno 2013

Bob is a wonderful storyteller. He creates believable and endearing characters, so endearing that it is frequently difficult to stop reading. The "technical" detail is comprehensive, and surprising. I always learn some very interesting things, which is the surprising part, since it's erotica not a textbook. In any case, most of what I have read of Mr. Lubrican's has been thoroughly enjoyable and totally worth the lost hours of sleep. Thank you, Sir, and please continue...

5.0 su 5 stelle Gripping story 8 aprile 2011
Di Oakbox - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

This book worked for me on a lot of levels. It's hard to talk about what a great read this was without giving away plot points and that would totally stink because every page was a surprise.

Okay, how about this:
- Interesting psychological drama (informative)
- Makes you really think about your concepts of law and justice (thought provoking)
- Makes you want to punch the bad guys and cheer for the good guys (emotionally engaging)

But the most important thing I can say is this: I have always enjoyed my time in a Robert Lubrican book and felt better for having been there.
