5.0 su 5 stelle Excellent Read 13 luglio 2012
Di Tom Winship - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

In her debut novel, "Into You," Riley J Ford takes an interesting premise and turns it into one heckuva good book.

The writing is sharp. The characters are well developed. The story moves along at a crisp pace.

There's a ton of humor in this book: just-plain-funny humor; dark humor; romantic humor; even tragic humor. If Ford was out to showcase how well she can master the subtle nuances between them, she can color me convinced.

But it isn't all fun and games. Sure, there's a murder to solve, but Ford's story really delves into some dark and weighty places along the way that make the murder seem somewhat tame in comparison (at least until the murder is later described). Although readers will be satisfied with the ending, "Into You" isn't all sunshine and lollipops, with a cute little HEA to top it off.

And kudos to Ford for that. There's no valid reason for YA and/or paranormal romance books to habitually and systematically ignore all of the realities of teenage life except for the angst ... yet it happens far too often.

"Into You" is a well written, wonderful read that I highly recommend to YA, PNR, and teen mystery fans.

5.0 su 5 stelle A kiss isn't just a kiss. 4 ottobre 2012

The synopsis of this book really intrigued me. Telepathy only through kissing? That is a very interesting talent and feat to write. And then to use that particular trait to solve a murder? Talk about complicated!

I like how even though this is classed as paranormal, the characters are relate-able. Their actions and reactions are accurate to the way a teenager would behave. Well, unless you count the psycho murderer, he's not a normal guy, but then, he IS a sociopath. Not only are the characters portrayed as believable people, I love that their language and behavior wasn't dumb-ed down, like so many Young Adult(YA) books are done these days, and the writing appropriate for the targeted audience. I read a lot of YA, and the dark aspects of this book were not off-putting, the right amount of graphic and censor, (I'm talking about the murder and details of the murder from the killer's perspective.)

That being said, I connected with Winter right away. The comedy and seriousness of the situation dug into my attention rather immediately. I found it harder and harder to put down, especially once Jason showed up on stage. I experienced their emotions right along with them and never felt out of key. Miranda's actions occasionally got on my nerves because of connection I felt with Winter and being annoyed on her behalf.

On maybe two occasions did I find myself confused about elapsed time. That was the only hitch I had in reading, it took me a bit to catch on that it was this or that much time gone by. But this is really a very mild complaint, and did not effect my reading enjoyment or ability to understand what was going on.

Overall, this book gets 5 stars from me because I did not have to talk myself into reading it at any point during the story. It caught my attention and kept it until the end. (And being unable to put it down I did go to bed way too late, stopping only when my eyes refused to be open any longer.)

I took a chance on this book and was very suprised how good it was. Honestly the cover was a turn off for me but as they say don't judge a book by its cover. I'm not a teen and I enjoyed this book very much!

5.0 su 5 stelle Be Careful What You Wish For 18 settembre 2012

I want to start out by saying that this is not my typical read. I mostly go for paranormal with fantasy/romance elements and a wider range of creatures as a cast.

This unique read was really not what I expected. The cover is eyecatching and a bit strange if I am being honest. The one thing it does is make me laugh. As other reviewers have commented, Into You by Riley J. Ford is full of humor. Sometimes it is the light, bubbly kind I expected from this book, but other times it is down right heartwrenching.

They mystery aspect of the story reminded me of when I watched the latest red riding hood movie. Everyone pretty much became a suspect in my mind, so technically I could say that I was right in the end, but I would have been right no matter who it turned out to be based on how many times I changed my mind. It was hard to figure out who the perpetrator was, and the way the mystery was executed was excellent.

I enjoyed reading most of the book, but there are some dark spots that were harder for me to get through. I don't usually put a disclaimer on a book, but I think certain aspects of the story might be disturbing to younger teens.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I love Ms. Ford's humor.

This short summer read blew me away! The storyline itself was as original as it comes and then the characters were just the perfect finish. Winter (the main character) is going through some changes--she can hear the thoughts of anyone she kisses. Now if you thought Senior year would be a breeze, for Winter it's been a real roller coaster.

When a friend turns up dead while a track meet, Winter is shaken to her very core. Everyone seems to be pointing their finger at anyone and everyone. But who is the real killer? Will they strike again? That is what Winter must find out. So with the help of her best friend Miranda, Winter will go through all sorts of obsicles--including the very attractive Jason--to find out who the killer is and stop them for good.

I couldn't put it down! I literally finished it in three hours. It was so good and it kept me guessing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through(: I would very much recomend this to a friend. Go ahead and take a peak, you won't be disapointed.
