Sinossi

This book follows Annapolis Detective Chas Kirkland in running down a serial killer that is killing descendants of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. His wife becomes a potential victim because of her famous ancestor, Samuel Chase. Detective Kirkland and his team travel to Baltimore, Upper Marlboro and the Eastern Shore of Maryland looking for clues and the killer. Detective Kirkland had just finished physical therapy for a gunshot wound he received in his last case that was detailed in "The Yard Sale (but it ain't no bargain)" when he received a call from his Captain that Senator Franklin, a descendant of Benjamin Franklin, had been murdered. Chas was off on the craziest quest for a killer in his whole career.

2.0 su 5 stelle Weird whodunit, not really justified 29 aprile 2012
Di Patricia Austin - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle|Acquisto verificato Amazon
This tale has little to do with the "Fathers" or any other facet of history.
One member of a family of triplets decides he has a grudge against the descendants of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and though a reason is given ... uh ... 236 years have gone by since then. In the meantime, it turns out that the wife of our protagonist, Police Detective Kirkland, is one of those descendants.
Savage murders ensue (why savage?) with increasing frequency as Kirkland collects clues and the FBI joins the fray. Even Kirkland's 9-year-old adopted and previously abused daughter gets involved ... with no traumatic aftermath. Who is the author kidding? Oh, and there is no reason for the villain to be one of three identical triplets either. In fact, there is no real justification for anything in this yarn, which BTW is written in an over-simplistic language to boot. Not the best book I have read this week....
2.0 su 5 stelle too graphic 15 giugno 2012

The killings of descendents of signers of The Declaration of Independence were just too graphic and gruesome for my taste. The only reason I finished the book was to learn which of three identical triplets was the serial killer. And afterwards, I "removed from device" this book from my kindle.

1.0 su 5 stelle Chase 13 maggio 2012

I am a family member of Mr. Chase . I am not very fond of this horrible use of his name. The Chase family going back to Aquila helped to found this nation . Show some respect.
