John Pilate is haunted. He's haunted by his personal demons, by his past mistakes, and seemingly by the specter of one Jack Lindstrom. Dr. Lindstrom had served as the President of tiny Cross College until John Pilate started uncovering some of Lindstrom's less than savory dealings. It was thought that Lindstrom committed suicide after jumping bail rather than face judgment for his crimes. But John was never 100% satisfied that the corpse found in Lindstrom's winter home in Naples was Jack Lindstrom. The unnerving phone call he received on his wedding day convinced him to keep a watch over his shoulder as he begins the promotional tour for his newly released book about the murders and other crimes tied to Cross College.

I could NOT put the book down. I kept going, page after edge-of-my-seat page, well into the wee hours of the morning. Fans of the John Pilate series will be thrilled with the culmination of the wild tales that started when Pilate moved to a tiny town in Nebraska.

This book was fairly good. I did not read the earlier books in the series, so some of the references to past events I did not understand. Enjoyable read.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books, Pilate's Ghost was the most riveting for me and I was sorry to have the book end. The John Pilate/Simon character is interesting supported by the introduction of new characters and the evolution of existing characters from the prior books. I hope there is a fourth! If not, J.Alexander Greenwood should definitely consider writing another series.
