This book is, in fact, VERY bare bones. If you have no music experience and no instructor you will struggle with it. It doesn't give explanations about embouchure, phrasing, breathing, or really anything.. It just sort of throws you to the wolves. It's also quite fast paced, one could easily spend several days on one page.
But I like all of that! I have a good amount of musical experience, I don't need to be babied with pictures and snazzy graphics. This book knows what makes clarinet hard (awkward fingerings, jumps in register, high notes), and it repeatedly forces you to work on all of it. If you take each exercise seriously, you will finish the book able to read/play confidently in several keys, have a good knowledge of the instrument, and be ready and willing to go onto the next book.
