5.0 su 5 stelle Great practice book!! 20 febbraio 2011
Di da perfesser - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Copertina flessibile|Acquisto verificato
I'm just getting back into playing the clarinet after not touching one for the last 46 years. I got several different books to get me back up to speed. The Hal Leonard series is flashy and very approachable, but it lacks depth and I got through it in three lessons. This book doesn't have the personality of that one, but it has a LOT more substance!! It is packed with practice exercises. I think I made more progress using it today than I have with the Leonard book in the last three weeks. It has a dated appearance (copyright 1933!), and it doesn't have any neat gimmicks like DVDs or CDs, but for a serious student who doesn't need that kind of stuff, this is solid and worth a close look.

5.0 su 5 stelle I Love It 13 dicembre 2011
Di Jacob LaLanyardsonsonville - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Copertina flessibile
This book is, in fact, VERY bare bones. If you have no music experience and no instructor you will struggle with it. It doesn't give explanations about embouchure, phrasing, breathing, or really anything.. It just sort of throws you to the wolves. It's also quite fast paced, one could easily spend several days on one page.

But I like all of that! I have a good amount of musical experience, I don't need to be babied with pictures and snazzy graphics. This book knows what makes clarinet hard (awkward fingerings, jumps in register, high notes), and it repeatedly forces you to work on all of it. If you take each exercise seriously, you will finish the book able to read/play confidently in several keys, have a good knowledge of the instrument, and be ready and willing to go onto the next book.

4.0 su 5 stelle Very good for developing technique 25 luglio 2013
Di J. K Saxon - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Copertina flessibile|Acquisto verificato
As a student and teacher, I've always liked the Rubank books. However, many students I've had can find them dry because they focus mostly on technique and don't always include many recognizable tunes. This is very true of this particular beginners book, so I would not use it as the ONLY book a for a beginner. However, it is very good at what it is designed to do, so I would use this book to develop technique in combination with a book like A New Tune a Day, which focuses more on playing recognizable tunes. For a student who really enjoys the clarinet and wants to excel, Rubank offers a focus on developing technique that is missing from most of the band method and other beginners books.

5.0 su 5 stelle Excellent book, great service 5 maggio 2012

This is a very useful book. I made it through a beginner clarinet book easily, and need something to get me to more advanced levels. This book cuts out all the fluff and fancy graphics other books use, but it's very read-able and useful. I'm already improving after a few pages. I find the included fingering chart confusing, but there are many fine ones out there for free download. The book arrived a mere 3 days after I ordered-very impressive! I also bought the flute method book from the seller.

5.0 su 5 stelle Excellent book for a beginner 19 gennaio 2014

I am a total beginner with the clarinet. I have a very basic music knowledge but I am very slow when it comes to reading music. I find this book to be excellent for me to practice with. I have only been up to exercise 3-4 so far. There are some actual songs in this book too, however I find even the basic exercises are pleasant melodies to play. Some of the exercise pieces seem to be excerpts from songs that I know, or at least it sounds nice. It is a joy for me to practice with this book.
