Probably you have chosen to pick up this book because you are interested in the martial arts of any kind, or maybe you are just interested in gaining the knowledge of the ancient ninja, what ever the reason for your interest in this book I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. The decision to learn and study the art of any Ninjutsu system is a very important decision, and not to be taken lightly. In fact I teach that the study of Ninjutsu is not just merely the study of kicking blocking and punching, it is a lifestyle that you have chosen to live by. There are far more points to the art of the ninja than just fighting, and defending, you are agreeing to learn to use your mind like no individual can, you are agreeing to live by a strict code of ethics, uphold honor for yourself and those loved ones around you.

There may be those of you out there that have chosen to learn the art of the ninja to further your own evil intentions, I will say to you that over the 23 years I have trained and taught Shikata Ninjutsu that I have indeed ran into some of your kind. I have watched those ideas blow up in their faces and it surely will for you. However if you plan on using the Shikata Ryu training manual to start a new page in your life to better your life and those around you, then you will begin a journey that is very rewarding. To be a peaceful warrior one must surely realize that their entire life has to be changed and devoted to what is to come from the training of an art form that is over 1000 years old. Your mind, soul and body will become one and will begin to change due to this type of training to fulfill your destiny.

Merlyn Seeley (Retsuzen Shikata) was born in the small rural town of Toccoa, Georgia March of 1975, he comes from a family of three sibling sisters and two of the most loving and supportive parents in the world. He was born into a working family where his father worked construction and his mother worked retail, so because of his fathers work the family moved all the time and rarely stayed in one location more than a year. At the age of twelve the family was moved to a medium size town known as Columbus, Georgia. It was here where his father left construction and settled the family. It was here where Merlyn Seeley begin his martial arts training and interest in Ninjutsu. It was also here where the present day Shikata Ryu was developed. Merlyn went to school and graduated Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus Georgia in 1993 at the age of eighteen. At the early age of twelve when most young boys were playing video games or out spending time with their friends, Merlyn was inside writing short stories and mysteries or outside practicing his martial arts and creating a new Ninjutsu system known today as Shikata Ryu Ninjutsu. At the age of sixteen he started writing poetry and to date has had numerous pieces of poetry published through such organizations as the National Poetry Guild, and Poetry.com. In 1994 he entered the military and after 15 and half years got out and decided to live the rest of his life devoted to his Ninjutsu training, Buddhist lifestyle and writing. In 2000 Retsuzen received a letter from the president of the Poetry Guild asking for permission to have his poetry published in the UK, and so was published in two countries in numerous poetry books. Today his writings have stemmed out to include his love for the martial arts, in the form of “How To” books and articles on many other topics. Some of his works include the, “Shikata Training Manual”, “How to read people accurately and quickly”, “A beginners guide to the martial arts”, “Using herbal remedies”, “The basics of Meditation”, and “Living off the grid a beginner's guide.” For more on this author’s writings search his name at Amazon.com and at Examiner.com. You can also learn more about Merlyn’s martial arts experience by searching for his name at the UCMAUA website.

5.0 su 5 stelle Very interesting to see a different approach to the old ways 6 aprile 2014

I have studied with this teacher in actuality. In fact I have been taught a few of these very techniques talked about in the book here and I know that it has made me more confident. The book is a work of 20 years of training in 7 different martial arts, as well as traditional Ninjutsu ways, special forces CQC and survival training on the level of SEER training. Master Retsuzen is listed at [...] and publicly has all his training and qualifications listed on the site for all to see, including his worldwide affiliations with many MA unions. Shikata Ryu Kai, or Shikata Ryu Ninjutsu, is also listed there and publicly displays all verified subjects taught in the art. I would recommend the book to my friends interested in the arts. I liked the fact that the book did not sugar coat and told the truth instead of watering down the information as most present day "ninja schools" do. I feel that the book could be ungraded with pictures, but over all, I loved it.

I have always been interested in the ways of the ninja, and this book really informed me on what the code really meant. There was so much things I did not know about being a ninja, it is so much more than a title. If you're interested in being a ninja, or just martial arts in general, I would get this book. Very good book!

First things first . I knew this had no historical connection before reading. Many practitioners will simply not give created styles or methods any credibility while they are in the process of being founded or even within that practitioners lifetime . There are many reasons for this criticism , and in many cases it is justified. That being said, this book is full of contradictions , grammatical / typographical errors , techniques that simply wouldn't work or would get you killed , and several things that transcend into nonsense . There are not any photographs or illustrations of what few physical techniques are listed . Even the survival aspects of this book seem paper thin . Regardless if you believe that lineage or techniques make the martial art , this style accomplishes
neither .If this new style does have any useful techniques or merit at all this book does not show them. It is more likely a cash grab or possibly even a cult recruiting tool by the author in my opinion.

i always buy some books to take a peek into who is doing what...another karate or tae kwon do guy mixing in theories of ninja training...many of these guys out there...so are more "certifiable" than others...but then again even some of the so called real ones...seem to be a little too much as well some of them...

1.0 su 5 stelle No such Ryu! 4 marzo 2014
Di Martial Arts Practicioner - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Short and sweet. This book is based on a lie. The author has NO legitimate nor documentable or verifiable training in any "ninjutsu" style arts, He even claims to have "invented" the style. If I could give less than 1 star I would make sure it was in the negative numbers. If you use this as any training guide, realize that it is nothing more than a waste and a fraud.
