Sinossi

When a luxury spaceliner is hijacked in the Bishti sector, sets in motion are a series of events that could well lead to interstellar war. A Senator from the Confederation, along with his wife, are among the passengers taken hostage. Jason Hawke, former Confederation Marine, is awakened from an alcoholic cycle of self-destruction and spurred to go to the rescue of the woman he once loved, Kristin Baird, the wife of the Senator. Meanwhile, agencies within the Confederation and the Confed Navy are making plans to go to the rescue of the hostages, little knowing that the rival DeSotoan Empire is laying an ambush for them, using the hostages as bait. But when Jason is joined by his three brothers and a beautiful fighter pilot, the hostage takers may find out that they’ve bitten off much more than they can chew. After all, violence is the Hawke clan’s family business!

1.0 su 5 stelle Assassans? Asinine! 15 agosto 2012
Di Ash - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

This book has succeeded where all others have failed - I have been moved to pen a quick review.

I made it to the 24% mark as shown on my Kindle before giving up.
The plot. A poorly written transposition of Americas current oil wars and invasions of middle eastern countries into a galactic scenario, plus some Somalian piracy, with a sprinkling of Ninja assassins thrown in. Hell - The villain is even called Saddam!

Brothers meet after a year or two apart and dont recognise each other? Really? They do have a feeling that they have met before somewhere though, so I suppose that's something in their favour - although I personally certainly wouldn't employ someone who cant recognise his own brother to rescue a VIP from kidnappers! I could wind up with one of the captors in my guest suite by mistake!

It was obviously written for the 14 -15 yr old teenager in mind, so I do take SOME responsibility for the purchase and have given it one star accordingly.

The book may improve further on - if so I'm going to miss it.

I definately paid $4.98 too much for this!

1.0 su 5 stelle Cardboard and Cheeze in Space 21 agosto 2012
Di Lawrence Farries - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle|Acquisto verificato Amazon
When a $5 ebook makes you crave well-rounded and believable characters like Han Solo and Flash Gordon, you begin to suspect that you have been had. The characters in Spacehawks are so 2 dimensional it is flattering to call them cardboard, as cardboard has palpable depth. The plot is so cheezy that you suspect it has been written by a computer program, using the keywords "supermen" "brotherhood" "assassin" "kidnapping" "rescue" and "token strong female". They write Harlequin romances that way, don't they? If you have read the book "Hawke" by Ted Bell, then you know about larger-than-life characters with mind-blowing martial arts abilities, who cannot be hurt and for whom everything turns out in their favour. I should have taken my cue from the similarity in the names of the books and saved myself some valuable reading time.
4.0 su 5 stelle good read 7 novembre 2013

Enjoyed the book. It didn't really try to get too technical, and moved along easily. Things worked out a little too easily for the good guys, but still fun.

Very few breaks in the action, even the background on the characters holds your attention. Very interested to see more.
