Sinossi

Introducing us to the most famous poems of the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran, Osho takes the reader into a mystical world, addressing essential issues in everybody’s life. The famous verse that gives the title to this book is about “love”—but not the ordinary love we know from novels and movies.
Speak to us of Love gives a taste of a contemporary mystic at work, trying to disrupt our dreams, illusions, and the state of unconsciousness that prevents us from enjoying life to the fullest.
This is about and for the millions of people in the world who have killed their love with their own hands, and who are now miserable. They never wanted to kill it, there was no intention to kill their love, but in their unconsciousness they started possessing. Husbands possess their wives, wives possess their husbands, and parents possess their children. Teachers are trying in every possible way to possess their students. Politicians are trying to possess countries. Religions are trying to possess millions of people and control every aspect their lives.

This book shows that life can only thrive in freedom. Love never allows anyone to possess it, because love is our very soul.

For Osho, the basis of all our neuroses or psychoses is simple: our souls are not nourished. Love, the basic nourishment, is missing. Osho comprehensively trounces the so-called religious and philosophical approaches to life. All that is of worth is to be found, not in the extraordinary, but in the ordinary; not in fantastical ideas of the “other world” beyond death, but in this very world that we find ourselves in here and now. In short, this book shows that making a simple yet utterly basic shift in our lives will awaken the silence in our beings and bring joy into our every moment.

5.0 su 5 stelle If you love "The Prophet" you'll love this book. 17 giugno 2013

I'm one of those people whose copy of Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" is never in the shelf, but always out somewhere I can pick it up and read it. So it was with some trepidation that I decided to read what the notoriously unsentimental Osho has to say about my favorite poet. I needn't have worried. In fact, this collection of Osho's commentaries on ten of my favorite verses gave those verses even more depth, and helped me to appreciate them even more. Not that "Speak to Us of Love" is all sweetness and light, mind you. But Osho's insight into the moments when Gibran is speaking as a mystic, versus when he's just a poor poet whose candle can't quite light up the darkness (see the chapter on "Friendship" for example), are in themselves illuminating, and helped me to understand why there are parts of The Prophet that I've always found a little "flat" compared to the other parts that resonate with the sound of truth in my heart. If you're a Kahlil Gibran fan, try it - my guess is you'll like it.
5.0 su 5 stelle The Greatest Commentary on Any Book I've Ever Read 27 aprile 2014

I am someone who at age 10 got a gift from my mother in the audio version of this book (which I didn't even know was a book until I was 30). I listened to it so many times, the words, in Richard Harris voice now live inside me permanently, as my own personal guide along the spiritual path.

I read this originally on the Internet and I'm glad they turned it into a book. His descriptions of Gibran's work are shown from the inside of a mind which is more alike to Almustafa himself than to the mind of anyone who reads it. With this, he can show and expand upon the work in a way that no other commenter could otherwise do.

Having spent many years in an ashram, and in meditation; and being a "seeker of silences" in the same way as the main character, the authenticity of the comments here are astounding. Authentic spiritual experience is almost untranslatable and Gibran, the poet, has had a window into the very nature of all of us and come away with some words to describe it, against all the odds and against the principle that such a vast internal world is nearly impossible to speak about properly without losing something in translation.

It is SO difficult, that a further expansion of the words of Gibran is warranted. Osho provides this here. Although the original book is in English, the concepts shown are so deep and rich AND foreign to the mind of most people that a further translation is very worthwhile. Just incredible.

If you have grown up on Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, you will really enjoy Osho's musings.
It is so beautiful and he brings back memories and deepens the merging of Kahlil's words,
thoughts into your very being. I absolutely love this book.

WOW was my first reaction and as i read it i kept looking over my shoulder thinking someone was going to scold me for reading it or i was going to end up on someones government watch list. And now i want to shout out has anyone else read this? Because the world would be an entirely different place if everyone did. It's the Truth, simply put.
