HE DIDN'T MEAN TO OVERHEAR ... but he did.

HE ONLY HEARD A FEW WORDS ... but he heard too much.

HE RAN ... but he was followed -- a mistake that would turn thirteen-year-old Aaron Quinn's, and his beautiful, courageous, single mother, Ashley's, worlds upside down.

THE CLOCK STARTS TICKING ... when Aaron is stolen from his mother by a psychotic killer and thrust headlong into a dark underworld of armed robbery, prostitution, and death. Will Aaron lose his mind as he's forced to participate in a deadly crime spree and witness first hand the horror of cold-blooded murder?

THE WALLS CLOSE IN ... on Ashley when she listens to a tape recording left on her pillow by the killer, giving her two choices:

1) Call the police and risk being responsible for her only child's death ...
2) Offer herself as a sacrifice in exchange for his life ...

In THREE DAYS to DIE, debut author John Avery takes you on a perilous journey unlike any suspense thriller you've read before.

From the opening sequence to the smashing ending, THREE DAYS to DIE moves at lightning speed, introducing the world to an exciting new hero, a beautiful and plucky heroine, and a truly frightening villain.

John Avery loves to write stories that force good people into horrifying situations – just to see how they react.

5.0 su 5 stelle Fast paced thriller! 15 dicembre 2011
Di McDroll - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle
I wouldn't particularly choose to read a novel where the central character is a thirteen year old boy but I am so pleased that I read Three Days to Die. The main character Aaron and his friend, although they are young, come across as real characters - not stereotypical teenagers. They have problems, hopes and fears in their everyday world that compare to any adult.

I flew through this book at quite a lick and that's always a good sign for me, I just kept reading far into the night because the adventure never stops. I particularly liked the part where the boys were locked up in the factory - very descriptive writing. John Avery seems to be able to get under his characters' skins and he hits the emotional button time and time again. The book focuses on themes of loneliness, loss and abandonment at a variety of levels in all of the characters in the book.

So if you enjoy a fast paced thriller with an emotional heart, Three Days to Die is the one for you.

5.0 su 5 stelle Completely wowed! 21 marzo 2012
Di N. Budden - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle
John Avery took me into a world I didn't expect. I couldn't imagine living through, much less having to endure, many of the circumstances the characters in this book faced. Even the title of the book is perfect because, essentially, every character mentioned had the possibility of dying in three days, depending upon how the events would unfold, of course.

Three Days to Die, at the heart, shows just how people may react under desperate sets of circumstances. It shows how the "decent" people of society can fall from grace, whether from an action they've committed or because of uncontrollable circumstances - which causes the tide to turn against them. It points out how a child with a home can be falling through the cracks of society because of dysfunctional families which they don't want to return home to. However, Three Days to Die also reveals how courageous the human soul can be when confronted head on between right and wrong - between life and death.

I truly got lost between the pages of this wonderfully told story - though I did cringe and even cry sometimes and wanted to hit someone at other times, which is totally against my nature. It just goes to show how totally absorbed I was in the world John Avery created in Three Days to Die.

2.0 su 5 stelle Read this book in a day 20 agosto 2012
Di Kathome - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I read this book in a day, which isn't surprising because it's an easy read and I skipped portions of the book, such as a dream sequence. (??) Other reviews here give a more in depth review of the plot of the book, so I won't reiterate, but I will say that had it not been for the references to prostitution and some violence, I would have thought this book was written for young adolescents.

This is certainly, in my opinion, NOT a "thriller" for adults.

2.0 su 5 stelle Why Such High Ratings 29 luglio 2012
Di Annie Athens - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato:Formato Kindle|Acquisto verificato Amazon
Once again I am surprised at the high ratings that readers have given this novel. As it was advertised as a thriller and seeing the number of 5 star ratings, I was looking forward to an exciting read. Frankly I had to skim through parts of this book as the writing was so immature. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because I considered some young adults might enjoy it as a good read.

1.0 su 5 stelle Weird 3 dicembre 2012
Di Mg1 - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Too weird. The plot and dialogue grow ever stranger and more improbable. Apart from the bad language, violence and references to prostitutes (?) this seemed very juvenile.
