Here's what my very smart, overly educated, down to earth and rather particular friend said about this book that I picked out for her 50th birthday present:
"I love the book for dangerous women that you gave me. One of my favorite entries is entitled "Down the Rabbit Hole" and goes like this: Sometimes in our overcontrolled and overplanned lives we need to just let things happen to us and the more chaotic, abstract and hallucinatory the better. If, like Alice, you find yourself falling down a rabbit hole, i.e. every intention and expectation you had about your life is being tested and everything you face is about to be transformed, succumb -- in retrospect, the experience will be life-changing.
A bit flip, perhaps, but I love the sense of adventure...."
Just needed to balance out the other review! I picked this book out from a reliable independent book store, The Brewster Bookstore, where I can always count on the buyers/owners to select good stuff. It was in the humor section and that is how I read the parts that caused me to buy it: elements of truth set with tongue & cheek observations.
