I don't need to read the actual stories to know that HPL and his colleagues wrote amazing things... but I really would love to read a few pieces in this anthology that weren't published where I live. Please Amazon, make this article available again!

I just bought and downloaded the Kindle Cthulhu Mythos megapack. The selection of stories is very good, featuring some of the best of the classic Cthulhu Mythos tales, but added a few stories that have been published in the last few years. Pictmans Modem was a nice touch on a classic Hp Lovecraft story and was fun to read.

The basic formating for the stories was serviceable. NO illustrations, but for .99 cents its kinda hard to complain.

Many of the stories contained in this collection have had mountains of reviews and commentary and I don't feel the need to add to that. I am reading from a e-reader that is not a kindle, but has a kindle reader software on it and I am reading the stories just fine. Some folks might find the navigation of the stories a bit hard to do, but again, when you can pick up a great selection of Mythos stories for the cost of a can of soda....I find it hard to nitpick.

For those that have not gotten into Lovecraft and his followers, its a nice gateway book to start at.

Long time fans might not find much new here, but if you have a E-reader and would like to revisit some of the classic Cthulhu stories....this is a great buy.

All in all, its a solid buy for folks that like horror/dark fantasy stories.

4.0 su 5 stelle Shogguths rule! A definitive buffet of 'Cthulhu Mythos' tales... 20 novembre 2012
Di PJA - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I first became aware of H.P. Lovecraft and his 'Cthulhu Mythos' back in the 1960's; when the gruesome paperback covers irresistibly drew my attention to them. Despite my parents' grave misgivings, they bought me several, and I was hooked on Cthulhu, Shoggoths, The Necronomicon and its author: the "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred (if you have to ask, this review isn't for you).

While there are endless 'Cthulhu' collections, they each tend to focus on a single aspect of the Mythos: the author, Old Ones, Dagon, pastiches, etc. What makes this collection a standout, is that it packages important Mythos tales from authors spanning the entire history of its creation: From HPL, himself (all the classics, including 'At The Mountains Of Madness'), ending with the hysterically funny/scary 'Dagon & Jill', written by noted cartoon scripter John P. McCann ('Freakazoid').

After finishing the stories, the reader will come away with a much broader/deeper appreciation for the pervasive influence of HPL's Mythos in our modern media: 'Doctor Who', 'The X-Files', 'Fringe', many of Stephen King's books, the 'Evil Dead' movies and even this years movie 'Prometheus' all have at least one foot standing firmly in Miskatonic University (located in the fictional Arkham, MA...yes, you are welcome Batman fans).

Bottom Line: If you are already a fan of HPL, this will just add to your mania.
If you have always wondered what the HPL/Mythos hullabaloo is about...just start reading this collection (and, leave on the lights!)...

5.0 su 5 stelle For the Novice or the Veteran of Lovecraft 31 maggio 2012

I picked this up having read quite a few of the 40+ stories in it already, but happy to see them amassed in one great eBook collection. I was not dissapointed with the stories I had never previously read, and have already recommended it to a couple of friends who've never read much of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu stories or offshoots. I told them this is a great and exhaustive starting point for the tales, and readers should agree.
