Born on the island of Barbados and educated at St. Michael’s Girls’ School, the author immigrated to Canada in 1969 and shortly after joined Air Canada as a Stewardess. After eighteen years in this position, she moved to Germany where she lived for thirteen years. An enthusiastic traveller, she has visited eight African countries including six visits to Zimbabwe and much of Southeast Asia. She has also lived in Italy and spent a year in India. In 2009 she self published her first novel, ‘Born in the Briar Patch,’ followed by the sequel ‘Beneath the Flowering Flamboyants’ in October 2010.

Suspense,twists and turns 29 luglio 2013

I am still reading this book but it is following the accustomed great writing skills of bev Clarke . This is my fourth novel by the author. She has mastered the art of keeping the reader in suspense until the very end. I have no doubt I will be satisfied and have taken one point off because I have not completed the entire book.

A pleasant, positive, uplifting read without being complex. It is set in a realistic context that is sometimes ignored or dealt with in a distressing way with plenty of negative overtones - some societal aftermaths of the Vietnam war. Perhaps some aspects could have been drawn out a little more to make little vignettes/ episodes of their own, but all in all, it is a good read. For me, it was educational as I found out much about a part of the world of which I knew little.
