Sinossi

The Seventh Boat

When a young American environmental activist throws himself in front of a harpoon meant for a whale, his friend, Mike Adams, vows to avenge his death.

Adams manages to persuade the maverick John Blackwood, a retired naval officer, to help him in his quest. Together they find shadowy backers and recruit an international team to execute their dangerous plan.

The following year, a retired Australian warship goes missing. In a desperate race against time, and fearing a major terrorist attack, security services across the globe attempt to track down and intercept the missing vessel.

Adams and Blackwood’s quest takes them from the busy streets of London to the wide open spaces of Western Australia, and finally to the freezing wastes of the Antarctic, where they stalk their target and are, in turn, stalked by a US submarine with orders to kill them.

The authors

David Ashbridge and Tom Clark have been friends for over twenty years, having first met in the mid-eighties, when both worked for a management consultancy in London.

The concept of The Seventh Boat began when Tom, who now lives in Australia, was on a business trip to London. He and David met for a drink, and the possibility of writing a novel together came up in conversation.

Both have a keen interest in environmental issues, and the idea of a thriller centred on the whaling industry developed that evening. Retiring to Tom’s borrowed flat, they worked late into the night, developing their ideas for the story.

That was some time ago.

Now, having worked extensively on this project in addition to their ‘day jobs’, they have completed the story of The Seventh Boat.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The pace starts slowly as the characters are revealed and hatch their bold plan to take on the Japanese whaling industry. The suspense builds and I soon found myself frantically turning pages as the plot unfolded towards a dramatic conclusion. This book is a must read for lovers of a good thriller. The story also conveys an important and timely environmental message. As the characters navigate through the oceans in persuit of retribution, the true nature of the atrocities of the Japanese whaling industry are revealed.

really enjoyed this brilliantly researched book. This book gives a fascinating and terrifying insight into the so-called "scientific" whaling program conducted by the japanese. It also has a complex and extremely interesting plot and is an absolute page turner. I recommend everyone who has an interest in whales and the environment to read this book and recommend it.

Thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. Crisply written and interesting and engaging plot. Found it hard to put it down especially as the plot thickened. Definitely could see this being a real life episode. Waiting for their next novel...

I had thought that this book was going to be about a fictional sub during world war two.so I was somewhat disappointed.
