Sinossi

** Amazon Top 100 (April 2013) **
A science thriller about murder and magma

NO WAY OUT--so says the note in the pocket of the murdered mayor.

The volcano beneath her town is seething, and the fate of Mammoth Lakes now rests in the hands of emergency planner Adrian Krom.

But Krom has his own agenda.

Investigating the case, forensic geologist Cassie Oldfield tracks mineral clues to discover how the mayor died--and what she found. As the volcano moves toward red alert, Cassie races to prevent 'no way out' from becoming a prophecy.

L'autore

I come from a family of writers: Dad was a newspaperman and wrote books about aviation, Aunt/Uncle wrote Westerns and Detective stories, Mom wrote a couple of B-movie scripts. Must be osmosis. I've done magazine work, both fiction and nonfiction. I'm author of a US history text and contributed to texts in the sciences, including earth science. I've done tech-writing for the Silicon Valley computer industry. My techie experience hatched an idea that became my first novel, about an attempt to sabotage the nation's telephone system (INTERRUPT, published by TOR Books). I went in a different direction with the Forensic Geology Series, taking mystery into outdoor adventure territory.

5.0 su 5 stelle Fun Read With a Plot Twist 12 marzo 2012
Di Michael Gallagher - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

This is my first Tony Dwiggins book to read, and I look forward to reading more from her. She spins a pretty tight tale filled with a lot of research that doesn't bore you to tears, gets you into the heart and mind of the main character, and has you feel real emotion as the characters lose their loved ones and their possessions. What I really liked was the hard left turn she took on the "whodunit" aspect of the book, as it was not something you can typically figure out as in other books about halfway through.

I picked this up for free during a Kindle promotion, and as I type this review the price is now $2.99 - it is well worth it and very entertaining. Now, it's time to go grab the other book in the series!

5.0 su 5 stelle This goes to my auto buy list 28 gennaio 2012

I don't 'gush' in my reviews but this book almost makes me wish I did. A keeper, one of my rare 5 star ratings at the first reading. This series is now on my quite restrained auto-buy list.

None of my 'off buttons', no snarky kids, wimpy females or "Bluebeard's Castle syndrome' events, just good, solid writing.

Characters were vivid and individual and are getting more depth as series characters. Geology was accurate as far as I could tell as an amateur, descriptions of mountain terrain and the people dealing with the weather and terrain very accurate.

I liked the first book in the series very much. Excellent writing, good plot, interesting characters. This is even better and if the author can maintain this level of writing for this series, I can see my only complaint is that she doesn't write fast enough.

5.0 su 5 stelle Diamond in the rough! 8 febbraio 2012

Truly captivating! I read this in one sitting, and it was well worth the sleep sacrificed. I took a chance on this book, never having heard of the author. I expected the average free kindle read - full of errors, thin plot, stereotypes as characters, etc. What I got was a WOW! I loved the character development. These were REAL people, as opposed to the Scooby Doo ridiculous dialogue so many so-called authors are using lately. Their conversations were intelligent with doses of sarcasm and humor exactly where they should be. These people jumped out of the pages and became real friends and/or enemies, powerfully engaging the emotions. The story is also refreshingly compelling. We are given not only a suspenseful plot but also infinitely more realistic subplots than can be found in the usual free fodder. I can't praise this book anymore without going into details and giving things away, so I'll just stick with BRAVO!
