Zombie: Lockdown is the latest zombie anthology from May December Publications featuring known zombie authors, as well as some authors making their first attempt at the infected sub-genre. As with previous anthologies from MDP, Lockdown features a theme: undead outbreaks in prison. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of the stories, considering the limitations of a lockdown setting. Out of the eleven stories, there were five that I thought were particularly gruesome:
Drying Out by Heather Henry
Isolation by Rebecca Brown
Mister Brownstone by Jeff Baker
Zed by Suzi M
Death Row by Joseph Rubas
Even though I didn't like all of the stories, those five showed some serious talent from the authors...their stories tended to be more suspenseful and engaging than the other ones, with some unique twists to the zombies themselves.
Overall, Zombie: Lockdown offers some great bite-sized horror for zombiephiles who don't have time to gorge themselves on a full-length novel.
I also recommend the anthology Midnight Movie Creature Feature from MDP.
