Letto in inglese. Stile semplice, strutture grammaticali facili e senza troppo uso di slang ,racconta la storia di Charlie,ragazzo che ha difficoltà a correlarsi sia con i coetanei che con gli adulti. In famiglia espressioni di affetto sia verbali che fisiche sono quasi del tutto assenti, retaggio di una cultura puritana forse. A scuola Charlie è dileggiato a causa dei suoi comportamenti e dell'estrema facilità con cui piange. Incontra finalmente la bella Sam e il fratello omossessuale di lei ,Patrick, che cercano di farlo uscire dal suo guscio di isolamento.Con l'aiuto anche di Billy, il suo insegnante di inglese, il quale ha capito le potenzialità di Charlie ma non si scopre troppo, e dello psichiatra alla fine Charlie scoprirà la causa (drammatica) della sua fragilità. Bel romanzo che ricorda The Catcher in the rye di Salinger e le difficoltà dell'adolescenza.

Charlie. Where to start with the character that every teen can relate to? He's not a character teens should look up to, respect, or idolize, because he makes the mistakes that every teen does. He is just proof that someone else really is going through the same thing. He really becomes more of a friend then anything.

This book is written as a journal, but Charlie writes like he's talking to a real person. It's definitely a different way of writing, and it really works for this book.

Charlie really is a wallflower. He looks at his life like he's watching through a window that he can't get on the other side of.

Charlie experiences all of the things that normal teens are exposed to, and he handles each in a different way.

Read THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, because Charlie makes you realize that everyone is going though the same types of ordeals. Love him, hate him, root for him, and cherish him. I know I always will.

The book is lovely written and the story is moving and in its own way profound. I found that the use of the first person kind of "dries" the plot,sacrifying the active scenes of the narrative parts, however it leaves room to a peculiar prospective, that in my opinion makes the novel so special. Its language and grammar is actually pretty easy, but it containts a good amount of useful expressions and interesting idioms; that's the reason I think it is perfect for foreign people who want to improve their reading skills in English. Last( but not least) the book, expecially its cover, drives you to a tremendous movie( same name), in which the author of the novel is the director. Of course it is not the best book I've ever read, but some of its characteristics are brilliant and, in general, I think it is worth reading, expecially during adolescence, but not only.

Easy to read, teen drama, romance, daily teen problems.
Anyway, still a beautiful book;better than the film. Love it 5*

Ho deciso di leggere questo libro dopo aver visto il film, che mi è piaciuto molto.
L'ho trovato semplice da leggere, un buon esercizio di inglese.
La storia mi piace, ma verso la fine del libro ho cominciato a trovare stancante il modo di scrivere dell'autore (per questo gli ho dato 4 stelle e non 5, che invece secondo me merita il film)

Davvero un capolavoro, sono diventato un vero fan, l'ho già letto due volte, e visto il film anche di più. Ho trovato interessante che il film sia stato diretto dallo scrittore stesso, li trovo complementari ed entrambi stupendi. Lo consiglio a tutti.

È come se Charlie non riuscisse a vedere chi è, e lo scoprisse dalle parole che gli altri gli dicono. In questo è molto reale e delicato.
Consigliato a chi vuole trovare un punto di vista positivo anche in situazioni non molto piacevoli, insormontabili quando ci si è coinvolti, ma che si sciolgono con la presenza di amici e della.famiglia.

The "coming of age" memoirs of Charlie, a sweet, lonely fifteen years old boy who talks about his life and feeling in letters to a misterious friends.
Through his naif eyes, we get to know his lovely family and friends and a sad secret that is only unraveled in the end.
The thing I liked most is the lack of acrimony and anger so common in teenage memoirs. Charlie is not a rebel, nor he wants to be, he's sweet and polite, has an ordinary loving family, with parents still togheter and lots of crazy family meeting, older brother and sister who bossy him a bit but love him as well, very much. He's just an ordinary boy, not popular but with a big heart in the right place and doesn't strive to be different from what he is.
