5.0 su 5 stelle Insightful, Witty, Gorgeous Guides With Great Tips on Culture, Food, Saving Money and More 11 dicembre 2013

These are my favorite travel bloggers and to have all of their posts/tips in one place is just awesome. They cover all the things I am interested in. The photos are amazing and the writing is informative and witty (not some bland travel guide). If you're not lucky enough to spend 91 days in a place, it's worth it to have the list of those who did really dive in and get to know the place and the culture. They've done the leg work for you, in a sense.

I'm so excited to have this ebook! It makes me nostalgic for my time in Bolivia as a young exchange student, and sparks more interest seeing it through the eyes of other travelers. The authors cover a lot of ground--from obscure ventures to more popular tourist spots, with side trips into the culture and history--yet each experience is as rich and full as the country itself. Shopping at the market or eating and drinking with the locals is as important as touring the salt flats and it's island of cacti and coral. The train ride to Potosi is as much an adventure as descending into the silver mines.
Their photos are amazing, their stories are fun, and the ebook is well organized and easy to navigate. If you are traveling to Bolivia, this is a wonderful, unique introduction. If you cannot visit, this is the next best thing.

5.0 su 5 stelle A Great "Genre" of Travel Informatation. 18 gennaio 2013

Mike and Jurgen do a great job of taking one with them in words and photos. Their "For91Days" series really tells it like it is. They tell what they like and don't like. Having met them once, we trust them. Their stories assist one with planning, budgeting, safety and other aspects of travel. And if you just like studying cultures or history, their series works for that, too. We find comparisons and contrasts between North American, European, and other cultures interesting. We noticed some of the same universal traits and odd traits during travel. For instance, they speak of a litter problem, which we noticed in certain Arab countries, but not in the USA. We have never been south of the equator and are thinking of going. Bolivia might be it, but not the whole country. We will re-read and narrow it down as Mike and Jurgen suggest.

I've never had the urge to visit Bolivia, but thoroughly enjoyed tagging along with Mike and Jurgen on their trip through the country. They visited the usual tourist attractions, plus many out-of-the-way and scenic places, paying special attention to the people and their customs. Descriptions of food and local celebrations were particularly interesting. These guys joined right in with whatever was going on, making the best of situations they found themselves in, always with a bit of humor. Highly recommended

So, this ISN'T a Frommer's travel guide. This is one dude writing about his experiences in Bolivia. I like it better because when he does specifically name something, it is because it was either a good or bad experience. Less information overload than a normal travel guide. It is also quite entertaining. Lots of funny stories. Really helped me figure out what I do and don't want to do while I'm there.

That being said, I would give it 5 stars if it actually had a final chapter that was a mini travel guide/summary. I would have liked to go to one place where they listed all the good things, bad things, lessons learned, important cultural things to keep in mind and stuff like that.
