I read this book with the odd feeling that I was reading it to support her journey. I felt bad for her if I couldn't get through a chapter, so I'd keep reading to let her tell her story. It reads like an autobiography of a former weight-challenged woman (other battles are mentioned, but the weight is clearly her crux). I am not weight-challenged, so I kept thinking "holy moly, I need to skip these repetitive long-winded paragraphs (that are in every single chapter, sometimes the majority of the chapters) about her battle/"adventure" with her weight... I get it girl". This book should really be titled "adventures for your soul: an autobiography of a former fat girl" (and I mean that in the nicest way possible). I KNOW it's supposed to read as if that is her problem, but fill in the blank with yours... BUT, how she writes makes it all about her journey, and the advice part at the end of chapters really only give you the opportunity to think about it as if you were in her shoes...
This book should split in two... The advice at the end of the chapters (which could make a cute 30 page book) and an autobiography... OR the title should accurately describe what you're getting into.
I'd totally read this if weight was my problem, or if I felt like reading an autobiography of someone whose problem it was. If neither of these are your desires, I'd skip it...
If your heart is telling you something just isn't right, or you're simply just not happy, I encourage you to read this book. It will change your life in so many good ways, you won't be able to count how many things you will be grateful for in the end. I am not hyping this up or anything like that, I am telling you what I am experiencing for myself, and know you will to. If you would like to read my review of the book on my blog, please do. It might give you more insight as to what I am talking about right here. http://kitchenvixxen.com/are-we-there-yet/
