5.0 su 5 stelle Are you people just impossible to please or...? 23 febbraio 2015

I honestly don’t know how the greatness of this book is up for debate? Of all the drivel out there receiving completely unwarranted five star reviews and ravings about how life changing it is, THIS is a book some of you have a problem with? What the actual what.

Bad Romeo was utterly fantastic. The writing was such a pleasant and hilarious surprise, I was laughing out loud by the third page, and I am not an LOL kind of gal. Believable dialogue is a HUGE thing for me when reading a book; if the characters don’t interact realistically or well, the entire book is crap in my opinion-- It doesn’t matter how many important issues you try to tackle. Cassie and Ethan’s banter was flat-out hilarious in the best kind of fast-paced push-and-pull way. Unlike other books, the humor seemed effortless and not like the author was waiting for a huge laugh or round of applause at the punchline. This coupled with Cassie’s relatable and witty narration had Bad Romeo reading like a movie you could see very clearly in your mind, which makes sense as Leisa Rayven is an actress and playwright.

Not only were Cassie and Ethan intriguing in their own right as main characters, their combined chemistry was off the charts. Never have I been so wound up by two people not having sex. I don’t personally care for an abundance of sexy time in my books, but by the middle of Bad Romeo I was as anxious for Cassie to lose her virginity as Cassie was…it’s less creepy than it sounds, trust me.

The role reversal of the two in the past vs. present chapters is as intriguing as it is poetic. Yes, we didn’t get a lot of insight as to what exactly made present-day Cassie so wary and jaded where past Cassie was open-hearted and free with her love but guess what, complainers? It’s the first installment of a series! Isn’t that the point of a first book? To tease the second? Is this the first book series you’ve ever read? Cool your jets and wait until April 28 for your questions to be answered.

Do not listen to the haters. Bad Romeo is wonderful. I am awaiting Broken Juliet with the bated breath I’m sure Leisa Rayven intended and will, without a doubt, one-click anything else she writes.

“We’ve never been over. You know it as well as I do…”

Okay WOW!! This book is absolutely jam-packed with sexual tension. And I absolutely loved it!!! Very much deserving of a 5 star rating. It’s one of those ‘I-hate-you-but-I-love-you’ type of love stories told in the best way possible. The author has a wonderful way with words as she mixes the perfect amount of tension, humour, love, amazing chemistry and just puts it all together to create a recipe for my first top read for 2015. A wonderful second-chance romance with a moody, broody, ‘I-just-want-to-jump-through-my-kindle-and-hit-the-hero-over-the-head’ male character and a female lead that I fell in love with.

The story follows Cassie, a stage actress who is cast in the Broadway remake of Romeo and Juliet and is casted along side Ethan Holt, the man she has always been in love with, who broke her heart into smithereens. After six years apart, Cassie can’t forget about their painful past, but their chemistry is so intense that all her feelings come flooding back with a simple glance. Ethan knows how badly he hurt her, but uses this second chance to try and win her over, proving once and for all that he has in fact, changed.

“Cassie, I felt like a ghost while I was away from you. I was. Now, I want to feel real again.”

The story switches from past to present, filling us in on small parts of their lives at two different times. It’s written in a way that when we are in the past, we get a glimpse of Cassie trying to convince Ethan why they should be together and Ethan doing all he can to keep her at arms length, knowing that if things got closer to that relationship ‘line’, it will all fall apart. When we go back to the present, it’s the opposite. Ethan is the one who is trying to win Cassie over, and Cassie does her best to protect her heart that he once shattered. <– I really loved that about this book!

“…but the only consistent thing about him is his unpredictability.”

There was so much I loved about this book. Every word said between both characters was felt in my soul. Their connection was beyond anything I have felt in a story for a really long time and I just took in everything I could. The banter between the characters was awesome. They really knew how to get under each others skin. I need to point out something really important for you guys, this book ends in a ‘kind-of’ cliffhanger. I personally hate cliffhangers so I was a little hesitant to start this book, knowing that book #2 was still a little while away, but I can honestly say that the way the book ended – for me – has left me more excited than depressed. It leaves you in a good place of wanting more, excited to see where their relationship will go to next. There are so many unanswered questions in book #1 but I can honestly tell you that you will feel satisfied regardless. Leisa Rayven is an incredibly talented author and you just feel that she knows what she’s doing. And I cannot wait to get my hands on Broken Juliet (which you can pre-order here). Ethan and Cassie’s story will conclude in book #2, but there will be another book in the Starcrossed series that will be about Ethan’s sister, who you meet in Bad Romeo.

Seriously, this book is incredible. I recommend it to everyone and I know we are only a few weeks into 2015, but I can see this series being one of my favourites of the year. 5++ stars!!!

5.0 su 5 stelle What can I say about Bad Romeo. 28 febbraio 2015

What can I say about Bad Romeo... Well, for one, its one of the best "suck you right in" books I've ever read. Leisa Rayven's writing style combines all the sexual tension, all the angst, all the smexy, and all the feels in this first novel. You know those books that are few and far between - the one's that you're reading, probably at 2:00 am because you couldn't put it down, and you get those small achy pains in your chest? Yeah - this book has those. Leisa's ability to suck you right in to the lives of Ethan and Cassie, and make you feel what they are feeling, is the hallmark of a true storyteller. I cannot WAIT until Broken Juliet is published, and we see just where these are headed!

5.0 su 5 stelle A sensual tender love story by Leisa Rayven 10 ottobre 2015

*A tender romance by author Leisa Rayven, (in this Starcrossed Series) this duet captivate your heart from beginning to end. ("Broken Juliet"-book 2).............After three long years of not seeing him once Cassandra "Cassie" Taylor, is not only livid but she is shocked that Ethan Holt was signed to play Romeo to her Juliet. Why? He was not only her first love from their college days but he had broken her heart not once but twice, and she vowed never to see him again much less act with him. When he saw her enter Graumann Theater in New York City, Ethan thought she was even more beautiful now since college and he also knew how much he had hurt her and losing Cassie was the biggest regret of his life and he was determined to win her back at all costs. As Cassie looked at Ethan, her mind drifted back to the times when she met the bad boy, Ethan Holt in acting school and how they played Romeo and Juliet even then and most importantly, how she fell heads over heels in love only to get her heart broken by this man. Can she do it? Play Juliet once again with him? Cassie realized she has to because this was Broadway, the biggest break of her life. When Ethan and Cassie make a pact to do the play, old feelings and urgings return forcing Cassie to take a good hard look at herself by facing all her insecurities while Ethan tries his best to win her back. With her heart in one place and her mind on another, she makes a decision and sends an email to the one person who means more to her than anyone else in the world. Is it Ethan?....................an excellent duet by Miss Rayven.............thank you........♡♡

2.0 su 5 stelle Very YA,girl chases boy ,boy sometimes wants girl ,girl sometimes wants boy ,just dragged this book down to the ground for me 29 giugno 2016

I went with the reviews from some of my favorite author's Christina Lauren and Jennifer Probst and ordered this book, it's a few years old but I love Christina Lauren 's reads and they gave it their thumbs up so I went and downloaded it feeling hopefully it was going to be a really excellent read, it wasn't. The author has writing skills no doubt but the storyline was not endearing at all.Its very YA actually more than NA , I'm not a fan of YA and here is why.The book starts out with promise, you meet the two main characters at tryouts to get into the top drama college in the country ,ok that was going well ,then it starts with the YA drama, girl wants boy,boy was burned in the past by girlfriend in high school and is now jaded ( ok stop right there, who wasn't burned by a girlfriend or boyfriend in high school, it's part of everyone's lives), yet it becomes Ethan 's excuse for everything throughout this entire read. There is the drunk parties, getting high and getting the munchies scenes, she chases him ,he runs from her,he doesn't want anyone else to have her,but he doesn't want to want her....God it got so boring and cliche it was annoying. Then you get the present time of this couple and it just gets worse, fast forward 6years ,you know Ethan lied to her and hurt her terribly but you don't find out actually until maybe the final page in this book,to be continued, very childish cliffhanger and again very YA.So between flipping from present to past you basically have Ethan in the past running from Cassie and then you have the present time, (there in their mid 20 's ) with Cassie running from a chasing Ethan. It's just getting so ridiculous and mundane that I just can't keep going on with this read, so I'm cutting my loses and stopping after Bad Romeo.Christina Lauren did you honestly love this read ????.I honestly think the author has good writing skills but she really needs to work on her storyline, the writing part again is good, it was what she was telling and how she was telling this story that just got too annoying to continue.
