"Whatever the objectives of the television series may have been, the book, written by Dorie Greenspan in a literate, patient but exuberant style, is more than strong enough to stand on its own. It's the product of a tremendous collaborative effort, yet it achieves a clear authorial tone. E' un ottimo libro, che ho da tanti anni e di cui ho provato molte ricette.
Per chi volesse dare un occhiata ci sono ancora i video sul sito dell'emittente del bel programma TV.
Magari non tutti ma molti video sono visibili, E si impara molto!

I rented this book from the library and made the nectarine chiffon upside down cake. I was nervous about the result because the recipe did not tell me to grease and flour the pan and I never employed some of the procedures described in the recipe. When I inverted the finished cake, it just slid out of the pan (I used a removable bottom aluminum pan.) At first bite, there was no disputing this was an amazingly delicious cake. Then I made the Hazelnut baby loaves. I was not able to find the required pan size so I used a 9x5 loaf pan. Again, on first bite, it was apparent this was a cake which tasted as though it was bought in a bakery. The crumb was perfection, just like shown in the picture. I learned how to blanche and peel hazelnuts, something I never did before. It was then that I ordered the book from Amazon. The book was delivered on time and in perfect condition. I already have learned new techniques from doing just two of the recipes. This is the book to go to when you want to WOW someone with your baking. I have read several of the other recipes. There is a wealth of education/techniques/experience in these pages that you just don't find in many other books...probably because several famous chefs contributed their recipes as opposed to a book by one author. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about baking and wants to create delicious and extraordinary baked goods.

This is my first Julia book and I love it. I watched her when I was a little girl and was just amazed at what she cooked and everything about this queen. The book itself is in really good condition, sadly the jacket is in terrible condition. I really don't care the price was great and it is my first Julia book. I love it.

This book is wonderful. I bought it used, and it was far superior to what I was expecting. It is great and I added a platic cover over the dust jacket. Nice baking book! I made the buscuits and they turned out better than any I'd made before. Julia Child definatley helped my baking skill.

I'm a self-taught enthusiast but I have been learning and baking for about 15 years now. I'm what you'd call an intermediate level amateur. This book is a fantastic addition to my baking books! It's not just a collection of recipes, like a lot of cook books, but an organized structure that covers the basics every respectable baker must cover, as well as more difficult and complex pastries and cakes to graduate to. It offers great tips and tricks and filled in the gaps in my baking knowledge. Highly recommend for anyone like me looking for books with "good bones". Decades later, Mrs. Child still rocks and relevant as ever.

I am a guy with absolutely no talent at baking but always thought the art of pastry making was interesting. So, i bought all the essential tools and waited for the book(after having seen most of the shows on PBS)...when the book arrived, I started with a fairly difficult pastry ...the Dainish Braid....turned out so well and tasted so delicious that I shocked myself...keep in mind, I cant cook!!! Here is my point. With the right tools, a good guide, and a brain, anyone can do just about anything. So get the book,(its a great guide) watch the shows, and just go for it! Here are some tools that helped...Kitchenaid stand mixer, a food processor, a marble pastry board and a wooden one too, a bench scrape(you really need this for any dough), s/steel measuring cups for dry ingredients, glass for liquid, parchment paper, and a baking stone. Then just decide that nothing is going to intimidate you and start baking. There are tricks to every trade and this book shares a lot of those as a great companion book to the series.
