This book was printed in France, and the book itself is top quality. The paper is heavy and the color is like her original paintings. The collection of paintings is from about 2002-2010. These are not illustrations that have been published elsewhere as book illustrations, but rather a collection of the artist's personal works that have been shown in gallery exhibitions. Her work is beautiful....dreamy, and edgy; the symbolism in the work moves the viewer to consider the disturbing complexities of our relationship to this world and our personal relationships with others and ourselves. She is a wonderful artist and I enjoy the book immensely and can highly recommend it. My copy came from AFA gallery in NYC and is autographed as well. Nice bonus. My copy has a different cover. It is my understanding that the photo with the princess slaying the dragon is the first edition of the first edition and the cover is different on the second printing, although the inside is exactly the same. if she ever does another one with different paintings I would buy it in two seconds.

i had the honor to recieve a signed copy of this book from the artist "Nicoletta Ceccoli" as a gift some monthes ago... and i have to say till now i go to this book and surf the pages and i am still amazed by the amount of care to the details shown in every corner and inch in this masterpiece.
being a Nicoletta Ceccoli fan since some years now, i had the luck to know her personally... and more and more i grow a bigger fan of her art... and this time with this artbook she BALDLY nailed it... this is a Must have to any one who finds the beauty in the worlds and paintings of Nicoletta Ceccoli... 136 pages of Plain art.. fantasies and beauty.
glad to deal with my 1st print from the "Venusdea" labels also... the quality of the print and the paper material is outstanding -i say that and i have been in the business of the printing and publishing- and they hands down "IMPRESSED me".
the cover of the book is "Hard Cover" with glossy pattern that's interwoven around the title and shiny to the light in a very elegant way.
some of the paintings are of double page (wide scale), which was a little turn-off for these paintings due to the deep "page fold" in the middle of the paintings due to the big amount of pages. but other than that there's not a single fault in the whole book.
the relative high price of the book, is well met by the quality and attention to details in the process of the print, the quality of the material of the papers and the cover elegancy.
Hands down my best "Art book" in my whole collection, a must have for art lovers, specially for any Nicoletta Ceccoli follower.

I have one of the "used" autographed copies through Amazon, and it is absolutely a favorite in my extensive art book collection. This artist is perhaps more well known for interesting book illustrations, but this collection of unpublished fine art paintings in "Beautiful Nightmares" is more personal work, derived from her imagination. Dreamy, doll like girls in fantastic landscapes and storybook landscapes that are a little twisted; edgy and macabre. The book is appropriately titled, that's for sure! Her work may be compared to Mark Ryden, born from the "Lowbrow" movement in southern California, but this artist is from Italy, and her vision is unique. Her compositions are provocative and the symbolism is rampant throughout each page,.....but she is has less random "beef", ahem, than Ryden. So his work seems much more surreal, although both styles are based in a figurative style.

Nicoletta's technique is masterful, and many of the pages have been reproduced on a large scale for galleries as limited edition fine art prints. The book itself is very elegant--thick pages and the printing is excellent. The paintings almost always take up an entire page, and sometimes two. Beautiful enormous enormous images that create a visual resume for this talented artist. I paid more than the list price for my autographed first edition copy, but the unsigned book does not actually seem to be available, and I go back to it again and again....
