As you can tell, Kimberly Snyder pushes vegetarian and vegan diets as the healthiest route but she does say you don't have to give up meat all together. She recommends no more than three dinners a week with meat, preferably not land animals. She also highly suggests eating raw since none of the nutrients are lost to cooking. Again, it makes sense but dang it I like to steam my veggies! The one thing Miss Snyder recommended that I had never heard about was eating fruits by themselves and nothing afterwards for at least 20 minutes since our bodies absorb them so fast (when eaten by themselves) and make are intestines very acidic. She says that having fruit with anything else will make everything inside our intestines putrefy and take a really long time to be eliminated.
I like the green smoothie recipe and can definitely do it 5 mornings a week but not too excited about her oat groat recipe. Miss Snyder has three different phases for the detox so really everyone could manage one of those phases depending on your conviction. If you are hard core, you'll give up meat, eat mostly raw foods, go organic, and be popping tons of pills (probiotic supplements, digestive enzymes, and magnesium-oxygen supplements) each day. If you're like me, you'll be drinking the green smoothie, increase the days you're vegetarian, and just overall watch what you eat and in what order. The book is a wealth of knowledge and I can imagine most people will think it's not realistic. But, take your new found knowledge and at least try several changes and see what difference it will make.
Kimberly Snyder's presentation is extremely accessible, friendly, and down-to-earth, and would be helpful, regardless of a person's previous diet. A person who had previously been eating a diet high in meat, dairy, processed and junk foods could pick up a copy of The Beauty Detox Solution, and learn how to transition safely to a healthier diet.
In her book, Kimberly Snyder is non-judgmental, and doesn't demand that people completely give up meat, fish and dairy. Although I am a high-raw vegan, I realize that a lot of people are not willing to give up eating these foods. Because the author is not demanding this of people, I think she can potentially reach a much larger audience, and enable them to begin to make a significant difference in their health and quality of life. To me, this book's most critical message is: Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore, it's essential to increase the greens, vegetables and fruit in your diet, and for optimal health, to be mindful of how you combine foods at meals.
Most of the recipes included are simple, easy to prepare, tasty, and do not require purchasing obscure, difficult-to-find ingredients.
Kimberly Snyder's blog is excellent, and provides a lot of additional information.
One thing to point out -- although the Kimberly Snyder provides examples of the experiences of male clients in some of the sidebars, the language and presentation of the book are targeted to a female audience. Many men (perhaps some women) may be turned off by Snyder's presentation, and think it isn't speaking to them. However, this plan will work for anyone, male or female.
I also recommend Fred Bisci's book YOUR HEALTHY JOURNEY, and his website as well. His approach is very similar to Kimberly Snyder's. If you don't know about Fred Bisci, he's in his 80's, in excellent health and physical condition, and has been eating raw for over 50 years.
