Robert Bryndza was born in the UK and lived in America and Canada before settling in Slovakia with his Slovak husband Ján. His debut novel The Not So Secret Emails of Coco Pinchard became an Amazon bestseller and two sequels have followed, Coco Pinchard’s Big Fat Tipsy Wedding and Coco Pinchard, The Consequences of Love and Sex. When he’s not writing Rob is learning Slovak, trying to train two crazy dogs, or watching Grand Designs – all in the hope that he’ll be able to understand his mother-in-law, build his dream house, and get the dogs to listen. 5.0 su 5 stelle Quirky, Delightful & Hilarious 10 ottobre 2013

Lost in Crazy Town by Robert and Jan Bryndza is a delightful read. The story starts off with the main character, Filip, moving to Hollywood from Europe, having gotten a chance at a green card to live and work in America. Filip is leaving behind everyone he knows, including his boyfriend David. They both had gotten their dream jobs, a continent away from each other. Instead of trying to work it long distance, they decide to go their seperate ways. Filip's dream job was to be a Costume Designer for films and he makes his way alone to do just that. When he arrives in Hollywood, expecting to have a friend to help him settle in and show him around, he gets totally culture shocked, as that friend just leaves him hanging. In a strange new town, in a whole different country, Filip must try to make his way and makes his dreams come true. The first "friends" Filip meets is another gay couple, Hillary and Derek. Hillary is a show-stealer that you love to hate, seemingly manic-depressive and desperate to sell his beauty line. Filip lands his first job with Veronica, a washed-up actress that is trying to get her career back. With a whole cast of quirky characters, Lost in Crazytown is a dark, gut-busting comedy about the trials of life and love in the city where dreams are supposed to come true.

Lost in Crazytown had me laughing and rooting for Filip from the get go. Filip is a memorable character, full of whit and a sarcastic attitude nobody in Hollywood seemed to get.He had me whooping it up and cheering him on. Hillary was a piece of work, seeming to have loads of money but such a penny-pincher that he served chips and dips for dinner! Veronica was the straight up Diva of Hollywood, having some moments of genuine niceness, but most of the time leading Filip around by a string. Filip admittedly got caught up in the Hollywood lifestyle, losing touch with himself and his family, but managed to bravely make it through people wiping dogs butts, manic-depressive friends, ass jet toilets, farting Frutarians, and dead dogs... not to mention crazy, everyday living and jobs for Veronica. Filip finally finds himself in the end and what an ending it was! I highly recommend stopping by CRAZYTOWN to anyone who likes to laugh! I give it 5 stars for originality and the ability to make me laugh until I almost peed my pants! (LOL).

Quotes from the Book:

"No, she was literally full of it. We had to use the high pressure pipe..."

"The ass jet water was a little cold."

"If you are what it is to be successful in Hollywood then I'd rather fail and have a life."

4.0 su 5 stelle Team Bryndza-great team! 20 ottobre 2013

I have read a couple of Robert Bryndza's books before-published under the 'Team Bryndza' label-'The Not So Secret Emails of Coco Pinchard' and 'Coco Pinchard's Big Fat Tipsy Wedding' and how fabulous they are! I am eagerly waiting for the third in this series so was really pleased to find this book written by Robert Bryndza and his partner Jan. The writing is seamless-I don't know how they do the writing together, I don't know how they divide who does what but I really can't tell that it is by two people, it's not disjointed at all, it flows so well as if one author, it really works so well. It is quite a short book but it's written so concisely, there is so much packed into these pages, some real comedy gems. It's something different, totally unpredictable. I love the new title and the fantastic new cover. I have to admit that I have seen this book flash up at me via the amazon recommendations but it was called Bitch Hollywood and the cover didn't grab me. This cover really caught my eye, it's spot on for this book. I know it shouldn't really matter but if a book looks good it makes you want to read it. If the book is also great that's even better. Some great comedy here, it's a real hoot. If the authors read this review-I'm intrigued to know what the snack 'Schnitzels' are? I don't like to give away any of the scenarios in a review so as not to spoil it for future readers but I've just had a look through my 'notes and highlights' and there are numerous. So many great moments. This book doesn't have the same style as Robert has adopted for the two Coco Pinchard novels in that it isn't written through a series of emails, it's just normal prose. This is of course ok but I do like Robert's new style as in the Coco books, I think this works really well and the photo attachments to the said emails also help give those books a real feel for the action. I hope the third instalment of the Coco series also has this style. One instance where I missed this writing style was where Veronica and Filip were texting-it would have been a nice touch to put a photo of the said text on a mobile in the book-now I've seen this sort of thing in the other Team Bryndza books I kind of expect it now! This is a brilliant little book yet with so much substance.

I downloaded this book after reading the reviews here. This book is a good, easy read which will have you laughing where you think maybe you should not. I will not mention any instances here as I would not like to spoil anybody's enjoyment. It is well written, apart from the odd spelling mistake, so buy and enjoy.

Fillip has just moved Hollywood in hopes of becoming the next big costume designer. He has left behind all of his friends and family, along with his boyfriend, David, for this one chance at his dreams. So naturally, nothing is going to go right for him. As soon as he steps off the plane, Fillip is left to fend for himself in this brand new city filled with fake, superficial wannabe royalty. By chance, Phillip meets Derek and Hillary, a pair of very atrocious men, who introduce him to Hollywood movie star Veronica Madison. From there, Fillip is thrown into the craziest (and hilarious) situations and left wondering if this is all truly worth it to make it in Hollywood.

Not too long ago I read and reviewed another of Robert Bryndza's books, The Not So Secret Emails of Coco Pinchard, and loved it. I am very happy to report that I love Bitch Hollywood just as much. From the very start, you know things aren't going to go well for Fillip. The friend who promised to show him around and take under his wing has taken off and Fillip is left to navigate the city alone. Fillip is forced to make friends where he can, which leads us to Derek and Hillary (more on them below). Fillip himself is a mostly likable character. Funny, a little too caring and too much of a nice guy. Of course, once he starts hanging out with the wrong people this starts to change. But even so, I couldn't get enough of him.

Of all the characters in all the books I've read, I think Hillary has to be one of the most ridiculous and repulsive men ever. He is concerned with only himself and acts like a spoiled two-year-old who didn't get the right color sprinkles on his ice cream cone. Derek, his partner, enables every bad behavior Hillary can manage. I guess you could say that I loved to hate them. I just kept waiting for something horrible to happen to them and I knew I would laugh hysterically when it did.

Aside from Derek and Hillary, we also meet Veronica Madison, another piece of work, along with her entourage. While she isn't as openly ridiculous as Hillary, she has quite a few issues of her own. She is very selfish, clueless, and her friends are jerks. This also makes for some entertaining shenanigans that are not to be missed.

Overall, this is another fantastic read from the Bryndza team. The characters are well written and quite believable, especially the over-indulged Hollywood stars. I kept picturing one actress in particular when envisioning Veronica Madison and it really brought the story to life for me. I'm not going to tell you who just yet though. I want you to pick this up for yourself, read it, then come back and tell me who you saw playing her.

We all wonder what it would be like to be friends with a Hollywood actor and what their lives must really be like. I think Bitch Hollywood is the perfect inside look into what life may be like for some of them. Fillip's journey is a crazy one, but also quite funny. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a clever, fresh read about the lives of the ridiculous.
