Sinossi

Join the ONE MILLION readers who have fallen hard for Branded: Fall of Angels!

On the remote shores of Lake Samish hides a woman losing touch with reality. Haunted by violent dreams of angels, standing judgment for the sins of others, Jessica has resorted to a life of solitude and nightmares.

But when two men she can’t ignore enter her life, everything changes, including the afterlife that calls to her. Can she hide the physical scars that follow her into the land of the living from the enigmatic and easygoing Alex? And why is her gorgeous and assertive new neighbor, Cole, so fascinated with her?

A chance at love sits within reach, but the clock is ticking, and it might not be long until Jessica stands her own judgment and becomes the object of her greatest fear.

It combines an intriguing twist on Angel lore with a that will keep you completely engaged right to the end. I would recommend this to all my friends who enjoys good paranormal romance tales.

There were so many things I appreciated in Branded that I definitely enjoyed the reading, despite something wasn’t so good. I love the angel setting Keary Taylor has been able to create. I had been mesmerized by the council and the judgments and whole part about angels. They were weird, not the first weird angels I met in paranormal romance, but original in their own way. I liked Jessica’s story and her unusual ability as well, even if the best characters were the secondary, Sally and Emily, for me at least. There were many unnecessary descriptions, especially about characters’ actions, and sometimes the characters’ descriptions were repeated too much, but the writing style is simple and modern and makes the book an easy reading as much as the narrative mode, Jessica POV. The only thing I didn’t get it was the Jessica and Alex love story. Their relationship seemed growing up to fast for me. I don’t know, It was as if something was missing there. It just didn’t take me deep. By the way, it was just the first book. There was a great potential and the mystery surrounding angels world was intriguing.

An interesting idea. Although I did finish the book I wanted it to end. The book would be a good read for those interested in young adult lit. I liked the cover (because seriously who doesn't judge a book by its cover) and the description of the book so I gave it a try. I probably wouldn't read another in this series since so much of the writing seemed so forced and I didn't like the characterization of many of the characters. My favorite character was the antagonist; he felt like the most developed. I was hoping things would have turned out differently for him (Cole) and Alex. I felt that Alex was not telling the truth and that Jessica was going to find a different truth about Alex in the end especially since he was also so pretty to look at and already had beautiful blue eyes.

I also felt that the author felt that she had to explain things instead of showing the reader.

I came into this book not expecting much, the cover was good and the first chapter or three were kind of dry. We definitely didn't need so much detail about every little thing in such a short span. Aside from that, I thought some aspects of the book were massively predictable- it annoyed me a little with how long it took our main character to figure out something that I thought was obvious from the introduction of a new person/situation (not giving it away!). It was still entertaining. I got the next book to see how it goes, so it is not so bad that I wouldn't continue, but it also is not so good that I would buy the paper version which I would devour in a short time and re-read. For a YA book (meaning more than the ages of the people, but also the lack of any content past kissing) it's a pretty solid 4 stars.

2.0 su 5 stelle Mediocre, frustrating 27 aprile 2015

The premise was interesting enough to get me to finish it. I enjoyed some of the concepts. The writing was agonizingly slow, though, and I knew well before the characters did all of the surprise twists. Writing was mediocre, character development was terrible, there was absolutely no explanation for why two men are fighting to the death over the protagonist when the author describes her as a mess and neither of the men really have known her for more than a few days. The ending was just terrible, rushed (yet still dragged out over mundane details, like shampoo), and made absolutely no sense.
It could have been enjoyable if 1) the storyline was just finished off instead of dragged out to make 3 books, 2) some explanation as to why two people become obsessed over the main character was given, 3) everyone who could have some connection to the main character suddenly and conveniently fall into her life all at once, and 4) it wasn't so damn angsty. Like seriously, I can't even begin to get up the desire to finish off the story line when the next book's synopsis is about how Jessica is mad at Alex for not marrying her when he just sacrificed himself for her. Selfish, much?

1.0 su 5 stelle Absurd and a waste of time. 17 giugno 2015

To be fair, I want to tell you from the get go that I did not finish this book. The author's writing style was something I really struggled with and it made me not care how good the idea of the story was or what is going to happen to the very unlikable "heroine".
The book consists of so many unnecessary exchanges and scenes. For example when Jessica finds Sal sleeping in the bathtub, only to find out that she forgot to turn the oven on for the lasagna. Why this was important to the story baffles me. On the other hand I found the author running through scenes that could have really added to the story. Like the part where her boyfriend breaks up with her. He just says: "I can't handle this anymore! It's just not normal. They aren't real". No sign of trouble in the entire 6 months of true love and than BAM..this is how it ends.

Miss Taylor also seems not to know when it is appropriate to "chuckle" or "giggle". Alex offers to make Thai food and that resonated a chuckle. What in God's name is so funny about Thai food and why is Jessica so astonished he can cook. She doesn't even know the man.
Another word Miss Taylor seems not to know when to throw in is "stupidly". Jessica "stupidly" says Hi and then when Alex hands her the soy sauce she "stupidly" says Thanks.
I don't know about you, but I find it totally NOT stupid to say thanks or hi. I wish the author knew when to throw in the occasional chuckle or stupidly, because she not only uses these words in the wrong context, but also way too much.

In this book people seem to know each other in and out within hours of meeting. Jessica and Alex go over to Sal's to watch TV and even though nobody utters a word Alex comes to the conclusion that Sal is an awesome person.

This is where I throw in the towel. I am very happy that I paid nothing for the book and that it is so easy to delete something on my kindle. I have 4 children and a very busy life with running a dog rescue and all the life stock we have. My time is precious and I don't have any of it to waste "stupidly".
5.0 su 5 stelle A totally different kind of angel story. 2 aprile 2017

I listened to the audiobook for the narrator is one of my all time favorites. It was beautifully done and I loved the story. It was dark at points and lots of mature issues to deal with. Jessica deals with an ailment that isn't common, having nightmares about judgments by angels. For years she has suffered from this and can't live a normal life. When some new people enter her life, it all goes for a whirlwind ride and things must change if she's to keep herself and her family safe.

I absolutely loved the concept of this story and I am looking forward to reading or listening to book 2. I'm not sure what direction it'll go, but there seems to be some unfinished situations in this one and I can't wait to see how they turn out.
