5.0 su 5 stelle This should be a required reading for any photographer, videographer, or spot news journalist! 25 settembre 2014
Di Ryan French - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Do you know how to handle encounters with security guards or the police? Do you know really the difference between private and public property? Do you need credentials to shoot a crime scene? If not, then you really need to read this book.

Carlos Miller has been the go-to guy for issues regarding the rights of photographers and citizen journalists. What makes his book so valid is the advice comes from someone with actual experience. He also brings along the experience from other pioneers in citizen journalism.

Whether you're an activist, blogger, hobbyist, freelancer, or professional... this book gives you a solid rundown on your rights as to take photos or shoot video. Despite photography not being a crime, photographers in all forms are often harassed, intimidated, assaulted, and arrested.

I can attest to the fact that photography rights aren't covered in many college journalism, photography, or broadcasting courses. Many journalists graduate college not knowing the laws that pertain to their craft. So surely, the average Joe or Jane isn't getting this information either.

I wish this book been available before I started shooting freelance news years ago. I would have learned ways to handle encounters with law enforcement better. Unfortunately, it's your responsibility to know your rights and this book will help greatly!

5.0 su 5 stelle Excellent Resource 8 agosto 2014
Di nerdburg - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

This is an excellent handbook written from the voice of experience. It's well written, engaging and beautifully illustrated. It's an up-to-the-minute resource which includes information on current laws, press passes, equipment, techniques, ethics, social media etc. Miller writes with authority, creating a pseudo-autobiographical work. He honestly relates to the reader his journey to become an activist even including embarrassing mistakes he made along the way. This is not a book written for professional photographers, but rather its goal is to help those that wish to become freelance photographers, activists or those seeking to photograph police actions. This is THE handbook that every aspiring citizen journalist should own.

5.0 su 5 stelle CARLOS MILLER, AMERICAN HERO. 26 settembre 2014

Carlos Miller is a genuine American hero to those of us who cherish the 1st Amendment. Upon receiving my copy of The Citizen Journalist I started reading and could not put it down! I've followed Miller's internet growth from the very beginning and I'm convinced his efforts come very close to what I'd call "pure journalism". I give this book a "only" a five star rating because there are not a hundred stars!
