HOWEVER- I felt the ending was kind of rushed and was extremely disappointed that although the book ended on a HUGE cliffhanger, it would be the last in the series. Can't help but feeling let down.
Otherwise, I prefer to read printed books. This time, the day I saw it, I had to buy the e-book and take it on vacation - meaning the festive events had to stand back until I had finished the book. I couldn't put it away. This is hot action again, with a little suspense here and there but no real chance to sit back and relax. I didn't know where the story would lead to, and then another turn took me by surprise again...
Now I have to wait: for the next sequel.
Carrie, a ghost from the prior book--the only one that Tiff knows of that can travel from the area she died at--suddenly shows up on her doorstep and adds a nice twist to the story.
For those who aren't familiar with the series, "demons" are merely the word Tiff uses when encountering a race of beings from another dimension or "world." Tiff is psychic with the ability to see the otherness of these people. She also sees the ghosts of those who died a violent death and works as a police consultant to solve their murders. Royal is a Gelpha from this other world who she first meets as a police detective she doesn't trust. Through him and the relationship that develops, we learn about this other world. From the author's comments, this apparently is the last book in the series. Start at the beginning, Along Came a Demon, to better enjoy this story.
As always, the characters and storyline are interesting and I would have read the book in one sitting if I hadn't started it so late in the day. I was immediately sucked in. The ending is startling; I don't see how anyone would be able to guess it.
My only complaint is that the story could have been tighter. Some of it felt a little scattered and another aspect was somewhat repetitious. But on the whole, definitely a worthwhile read and a nice addition to the series.
If you've read the other books, you definitely aren't going to want to miss this one.
This the final book in the Whisperings series has all of the aforementioned and so much more. In fact, the story is so well concluded that this particular book could be read on it's own but I strongly recommend that one read all the books in the series because it's just so worth it. Thhere are no loose ends remaining. The story was truly brought to a proper and, for me, a satisfying conclusion. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end.
Linda Welch did a wonderful job with this series! I look forward to reading more from this talented and imaginative author.
BUY IT, READ IT; ENJOY!!
I grab up free books that sound interesting to me and that is how I have been trying new Authors here lately.
Linda Welch is a great world builder and the Characters to me now are like family. Yes even the shades. (ghosts)
I hated to hear this is the last book in the series because even though it ended well I was hoping for more books. I'm not ready for this series to stop. She tells a great story with just the right amount of romance and mystery.
Here is where I would add what I didn't really care about the book and the only thing I can think of is - its the last book. and THAT is the only thing I do not care about when it comes to this book and the series.
I recommend this whole series. I am now off to read more of Linda's other books.
