Sinossi

Join Frederick Cottonmouth as he steps out of our world and into another in order to complete his mission. In this dramatic conclusion to young Freddie’s story, he will face great challenges and conflicts. How will Freddie react when he comes face-to-face with true darkness?

This is the rare children’s story that is both bold and tender, and it is brimming with moments of great risk, adventure, and heart. Combining the artistic wonder of Where the Wild Things Are with the timeless storytelling style of The Polar Express, this story will capture both the imagination and intelligence of children and their parents as it sheds light on the power of sin, sacrifice, and redemption.

My boys, 8 and 6 and I have read each of the three books in one sitting at dinner. They laughed, was moved to almost tears and felt intense gratitude whilst reading. We thoroughly enjoyed the lessons, imagery and principles involved. Also the illustrations were thoughtful and perfect for this piece. We look forward to more writings by C.S. Fritz :)

I was recently invited to participate a book review/blog tour for the Cottonmouth series and have been sharing my reviews of Cottonmouth and the River and Cottonmouth and the Great Gift over the past two days. Today I'm very happy to share my final review of Cottonmouth and the End, the third and final book of the series.

I absolutely stand by what I said; "these books are unlike anything I've ever read. The artwork is nothing short of amazing and the way it is used is unexpected and unique; really draws you into the story. The story itself is engaging, emotional and one which leaves you (or at least me) not sure what will happen next and hardly able to wait to read and discover what happens next. These books are amazing for these reasons, but even more so because of the message which is woven throughout this story."

Cottonmouth and the End
Author/Illustrator - C.S. Fritz
Publisher - David C. Cook
Ages - 8-12 (although it is actually for everyone!)

Favorite Features -
All the things I loved about the first two Cottonmouth books, I love even more in Cottonmouth and the End!
Strong messages - how easy it is to be deceived and distracted by the darkness and how important it is for us to stay focused on the job and message Jesus has given to us! And, how the price can be high when we indulge our selfishness and choose to follow "darkness".
I love the message of how Jesus' work on the cross "finished" loneliness, sadness and fear and gives us courage because we know this world and Satan does not really have the power - Jesus does and He overcame the world!
I LOVE how when King Tug sends Freddie and Pox on their journey, he tells them they are not alone because He will always be with them and he loves them more than they will ever know.
David C. Cook says; "Join Frederick Cottonmouth as he steps out of our world and into another in order to complete his mission. In this dramatic conclusion to young Freddie's story, he will face great challenges and conflicts. How will Freddie react when he comes face-to-face with true darkness? Parents and their children will savor this creative story which has the artistic sense of Where the Wild Things Are, the heart of Narnia, and the redemptive themes of sacrifice and friendship."

I really loved this final edition of the Cottonmouth stories - especially when King Tug says, "I've been wanting to give these to you all along. You, Fredrick Cottonmouth, have a very special job to do. Like Pox, and many others, you are to spread my love like little kernels, planting them in the hearts of lonely children everywhere. Will you help me?" Without a doubt, this is a message I want my grandsons to hear, believe and take to heart; God has a very special job for them to do!

Cottonmouth and the End will absolutely capture the attention and imagination and heart of the children, teens, and adults who hear and read it. It is a solid series, one you will want to read to your grandchildren/children, because not only is it an excellent story, but it is a gift. A gift which will give you the opportunity to have many important conversations with your grandchildren/children.

4.0 su 5 stelle This concluding book gets closer to what I thought the whole series should have been like 19 maggio 2015

'Cottonmouth and the End' concludes the series by C. S. Fritz. I wasn't really a huge fan of the first two volumes, but I did like this one a little more.

The book begins by discussing why some folks are afraid of the dark. This is because when we last saw Frederick Cottonmouth, he was stuck in the dark. He was on his way to deliver a black egg for Tug and ran into the kind of trouble that ended the last book on a cliffhanger. With the return of an old enemy and some old friends, can he get out of the fix and continue on the mission he was given?

I still think it should have been maybe two books or one larger book, but this book concludes things in a lot more satisfying way. I liked the way the black and white space was used during the story to show the battle between light and darkness. I think the bad guy characters are drawn in a way that little ones might find them scary. The message in this book is closer to what I thought the whole series might have been. Perhaps if I'd read the whole thing in one sitting, I might have been kinder to the earlier books, but I wanted to review them as a reader might: one at a time.

I received a review copy of this ebook from David C. Cook and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Cottonmouth And The End

Grieving the loss of his friend Tug the Comforter especially since he sacrificed himself to save his life; Frederick Cottonmouth and his BFF Yellowthroat the small bird walk through the Darkness to the tree they seek that leads to the Big Blue where he prays he can find the girl. They enter the portal that only a child could fit through into more Darkness. However, Yellowthroat leaves Freddie inside the tree to go back and retrieve the egg his youthful companion inadvertently left behind.

Fearing for his buddy, Yellowthroat finds the tree’s door disappeared. The desperate bird struggles to locate a new entrance to the Big Blue when he meets friends Gloom and Matilda. They run into Secret who demands payment for informing the trio of another path. Inside the tree, Menson the rat accosts Freddie.

Targeting middle school children, the third Cottonmouth allegory (see Cottonmouth and the River and Cottonmouth and the Great Gift) will remind readers of Narnia. The title character is magnificent and his support cast classified as good (his allies), bad (Secret), ugly (Menson), and heavenly fatherly (Tug). With fabulous drawings like the eerie expanding darkness mindful of the Neverending Story augmenting an enchanting climax, fans will relish the escapades of courageous Cottonmouth as he reaches “The End” knowing now that God accompanied him on every step he took while also remains with him with his new beginning.
