Sinossi

The sequel to Along Came a Demon and The Demon Hunters.

Is it just me? Is anyone else and their sweetie whisked from a romantic getaway and end up in the J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington DC? I don't even get to show Royal my new sexy underwear.

The FBI think I'm a Medium. They want me to "communicate" with the victims of a particularly brutal crime. I have a hard time believing the Federal Bureau of Investigation would seek the help of a psychic investigator, particularly one from Utah. I don't think they're being honest with me.

What I discover at the crime scene tells me the killer is not human. I'm surprised when the agents reach the same conclusion. Luckily, they are way off base.

I don't expect to revisit old places, or see old faces who demand we quit the case. I don't expect to risk losing everything and everyone I cherish.

And what is it with Jack and Dale Jericho?

5.0 su 5 stelle another fabulous read in this series 25 ottobre 2011
Di Sharon Stogner - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Copertina flessibile Acquisto verificato
This is the third book in Linda's fantastic paranormal mystery series and probably my favorite of the three (of course any book with Royal in it is going to be high on my list, but more on him later...) What I love most about this series (other than Royal, see a theme here?) is the writing. The expert use of description touches all my senses. I can see, hear and taste things vividly (don't read this book on an empty stomach because there is a lot of delicious food mentioned). I also love the first person POV. Tiff Banks is smart and no nonsense with a tendency to speak her mind before she thinks, but it is balanced with her insecurities when it comes to Royal, her non-human partner and lover.

Linda does a good job of brining new readers up to speed with the plot, but the events of this story are closely related to what happened in book #2 The Demon Hunters. I suggest readers new to the series start with book #1, Along Came a Demon (only $.99 for kindle).

We learn more about one of Tiff's ghost roommate, Jack. Yes, she lives with two ghosts, who add quite a bit of humor to the series. The mysterious Dark Cousins, who Tiff was hoping to never see again, have reappeared after a string of brutal murders. Tiff can see the ghosts of people who were violently killed and unfortunately they appear to her the way they died so this isn't what you would call a "cozy" mystery <G>.

While this is a mystery style series there is a strong, but not overpowering, romantic element. Tiff and Royal's first meetings had me laughing, and I have enjoyed watching their relationship mature to where it is now in book #3. There is a scene in the book when Tiff realizes what Royal means to her that had my in tears. For those who love a good alpha male, Royal will melt your heart (he cooks for freaking sake!) and Linda's expertise with description will have you wanting a demon of your own. But I must add here that we meet a rather arrogant and, from my POV, smexy friend of Royal's named Christopher Plowman (I will refrain from making a crude comment here, you are welcome <G>) and I hope he appears in the next book.

5.0 su 5 stelle Enjoying this series! 3 aprile 2011

The best stories come as a surprise package. I bought the first book Along Comes a Demon and quickly ordered the second, Demon Hunters. I purchased on a whim and was taken by surprise. Dead Demon is the 3rd installment and I enjoy getting to know the characters and watching things unfold. Royal is one yummy demon and Tiff is gutsy and smart. She hasn't a clue that she is sexy to boot. I love Jack and Mel, Tiff's resident ghosts. There is mystery, romance and humor....my favorite combinations. Looking forward to Linda's 4th book and hope there are many more to come.

I just read all three of the books in this series straight through. There are a lot of things to like about them: interesting characters, not too much time spent filling in info from the previous stories, humor, good writing style... EXCEPT for the lack of the use of some prepositions. I stumbled through these books time after time having to reread things like "out the house" and "out the car" when I was expecting "out >of< the house" and "out >of< the car." This usage is perfectly legal, grammatically speaking, and may well be a localism or something from the author's deep, dark British past. But I found it disconcerting and felt that it detracted from my enjoyment of the books. Then again, I always correct grammatical errors in my head when I read and these books are certainly not the worst offenders by a long shot.

So, all in all, I highly recommend this series. Give me more "of"s (and a few other prepositions) and I'll give you five stars.

I got a free copy of Along Came A Demon but did not read it for several months. Out of boredom one day, I was going through my library, saw it and decided to begin reading it! I was thoroughly HOOKED! I've downloaded all the Tiff and Royal books and read and re-read them again! Great story lines, engaging characters and lots of action! Thanks Linda Welch for a great series!

I liked the continuing story thread from the previous book. There's action, mystery, and terror. The development of the demons and cousins was great. And twice now Tiff has done things that kept her alive, that a normal human wouldn't be able to do -there's a mystery here that keeps me reading. This book had four different storylines going. The first three worked for me. The fourth storyline started very abrubtly at chapter 20. It was a very sudden dropping of the story that had been going on. I almost stopped reading. Another issue is Tiff using british terms like bin for garbage and row for argument or fight. These things pull me out of the story, and I have to refocus to get back in. If she was british such terms would be great, but Tiff grew up in Utah, which makes it a mismatch.
