He charged out of the darkness to her rescue ...
Amelia Grant has just escaped her lecherous employer with nothing but the clothes on her back. In the predawn hours of London, a horse and carriage come barreling down on her, and a stranger rushes to her aid, sweeping her off her feet ...
There is something dark and dangerous about Nicholas Riley. With eyes gray like flint and hard as steel, he's unusual ... beautiful. The intensity behind his gaze makes her feel like the only person in the world. And then he whispers ...
"I want your complete surrender."

While this book stands alone, I highly recommend reading this series in order.

The books in the Desire Me series are:
1. Desire Me Now
2. Desire Me More
3. Desire Me Always

Deciding that life had far more to offer than a nine-to-five job, bickering children, and housework of any kind (unless she’s on a deadline—when everything is magically spotless), Tiffany Clare opened up her laptop to write stories she could get lost in. Tiffany writes sexy historical romances set in the Victorian era. She lives in Toronto with her husband, two kids, and two dogs.

When I decided to read Desire Me Now I was expecting something more...rrr...different. Something that would go beyond the boundaries of the classic historical romance book. The cover made me think it would be more daring, an erotic romance with, maybe, some BDSM in the mix. Instead I found a normal historical romance set in 1881. I'm not saying that it's boring or bad written or insipid. Desire Me Now is a well written, interesting and probably more sexy than the average story but there isn't really much difference from other books of the same genre. That said, in the whole I really enjoied the book.
Speaking of the MCs. I liked Nick, he is a very good male character for a romance book. He is sexy and with that bit of dark past and rough appearance that makes your heart bit faster. However, sometimes I felt like he went from rascal to committed too fast. Amelia too is a good character, she was more in line with her behavior but for me she too surrendered to his seduction without putting up much of a fight (ok, I wouldn't make him work too much for it too...he could well be everyones dream man, you know). Anyway.
The book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger because Amelia and Nick story is far from closed. Many things are still open and if you don't like to read a book without a proper ending maybe it is better if you wait november when the third and (I hope...because I want to know how it ends not because it's not good) last part of this series will be out.

In Desire Me Now, we meet Amelia Grant and Nicholas Riley. Basically, Amelia is running away from her previous life. We don't know why until a little later in the story. She's had a run of bad luck up until she meets Nick. Basically, comes in rescuing Amelia. Her experience with men in general hasn't been too good, so she is a leery on Nick intentions. When Nick rescues Amelia he sees two things: 1) A wounded soul 2) A desire to have this woman. He needs to gain her trust.

First off, Desire Me Now starts out a little slow, and I think part of that stems from Nick trying to gain Amelia's trust. It takes majority of this story to gain that trust. We watch Nick showing that he's a trust worthy guy. There are few times Amelia is afraid that he's going to control her and Nick had to basically break it down for her:
"I might be master of this household, but I am not a master over any person, including you."
He basically letting her know I'm not going to force you to be with me.
"You will come to me of your own free will and on equal footing, Amelia. I won't have you any other way."
He is sure of himself.

Yes, we see the beginnings of their relationship. There is more to the story like the past she's running away from which happens to be her brother. Yes, it abruptly stops with a cliffhanger. However, it's a serial. The ending of this part leaves you wonder what's going to happen, since her brother has popped into picture. Is he going to cause trouble for Amelia and Nick? I guess we have to wait and see.

This is a hard review for me because I really liked Tiffany Clare's first 2 series. She's a good author. First, the book is not a novella but it is short. I had a hard time getting into this book. The story is okay but there's not a HEA as the hero and heroine are in the next 2 books (according to author's website). Also, there are a lot of sex scenes in this book which some readers may not like. I don't mind the sex scenes but they limited the rest of the plot. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about the hero's and heroine's pasts. Hopefully they will be answered as the series goes on. This book is not for everyone. I will probably read the next 2 just to see what happens. I can recommend Ms. Clare's first 2 series.

3.0 su 5 stelle Tarzan and Jane..... 5 maggio 2015

This is apparently a serial novel, and the first part of a set of sequential novel(s). This does not seem to quite meet the standards of Tiffany Clare's (prior) work, which I particularly admire. I will attempt to avoid "spoilers", and will avoid discussing plot elements as much as practicable.
I am not a fan of "alpha male" stories, when the male's knuckles drag the ground, i.e when he acts moronic when presented with an object meriting his lust, and when that male has no (or minimal) control over his sexual urges. This tale represents "alpha male" behaviors describing little control over his libido. "Ugh, me Tarzan, you Jane, you mine, get clothes off." (Yes, there are hints that his upbringing has little input upon a code of morality.) The fair maiden is rescued, then the "hero(?)" hires her as a "secretary", and immediately importunes her. I, having had corporate sexual harassment training, cringed.... Labels, and declarations of "love" notwithstanding, this novel was too short to provide a basis which firmly distinguished a difference between lust and love. For that reason, I do not class this with Tiffany Clare's better works.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge Tiffany Clare fan and really enjoy her writing style. This book starts off with a bang and keeps on going. The main characters meet and sparks start to fly. There is the intrigue of our heroine running away from her cruel brother, her pad beginning to catch up to her and more. The reasons I did not give it five stars... 1) There are some major spelling and grammar errors, Avon's editors are getting really slack. 2) I am not a big fan of cliffhangers. 3) And last, but not least, we know almost nothing about our hero. His character is not very well developed in part 1. I really have no desire to read part 2 because then I will just be stuck waiting for part 3. I can live with where this book ended.

I have never been a fan of historical romance novels. I've always found them a tad boring and stiff for my taste. Initially, I wasn't quite sure if I should do a review for Desire Me Now, because like I said, I don't really like this genre. But by impulse, I signed up for this tour anyway; whether it's to expand my horizon, get rid of bad assumptions, or just because I found the cover intriguing. Whatever it is, I am grateful for it. I adored this book, because it wasn't at all what I expected! Let me explain further...

When Amelia Grant’s past catches up with her and threatens to destroy the life she’s built, Nick Riley doesn’t hesitate to protect her.

With just one look Nick completely undoes her. He wanted her surrender and she all but threw it at his feet. She’s revealed her darkest secrets . . . let him into her heart as he drew her deeper into forbidden games of desire . . .

But what happens when Nick’s secrets can destroy the very foundation they’ve build between each other? Will he let Amelia through the barriers of his past? Or will the truth tear them apart?

Amelia Grant or Amelia Somerset is a well-educated, beautiful, and properly-mannered lady. She's also hiding; from her past life, from her brother, and from everything that can hurt her. Her self-control and pride are two things that she values most, but both of which are forgotten when around the seemingly perfect man who wants nobody but her.

Nick Riley is a man who comes with many scars; both literally and figuratively. He's an enigma, if you will. Only one person knows him fully, and he's not sure he wants to let anybody else in. He does not believe in permanent companionship or building a family, but it all changed because of Amelia.

The book was really HOT. For a historical romance, I was not expecting the kind of passion and intensity that I've read. The intimate scenes were all explicitly narrated, and it was very interesting without being overwhelming. The characters, both main and supportive, are all hiding something about their pasts, and that's something that I'm sure a lot of people can relate to. Speaking of characters, can I just say that Nick is just...whew! He's a gentleman with a heart of gold, but he's also probably the worst person to be an enemy of. He protects he people he care about and he cares deeply for their welfare. It's just amazing to see such contrast in a man. Amelia is also a quite curious woman. She's a true lady, one who has perfect manners, but she can also be quite bold and fierce if need be. And like I've expressed in other reviews, I love a strong female lead.

The story is one that makes you want more. It's a good thing, but also quite annoying. A second part will be coming out, so it's completely understandable that there would be questions left unanswered on Desire Me Now. However, there is such a thing as leaving TOO many curious thoughts. I felt like they didn't really accomplished much on book 1. Aside from having loads of sex and establishing that they are to be together -- discreetly -- but together nonetheless. I guess I would have enjoyed it more if they settled at least one issue. Like the Victoria thing perhaps? I know there's still something there.

I really liked this story, and I would definitely read the succeeding installments. I give Desire Me Now 4.5 stars, and would recommend this to other readers. It's not boring you guys! It's sexy. *wink*
