Bellissimo modellino del Bird of Prey Klingon.

5.0 su 5 stelle Klingon Bird of Prey Reviewed. 16 maggio 2013

I received my Bird of Prey just this day. I must confess a certain apprehension about this particular Star Trek ship. Yet, when I pushed that button to access the sound and light display, I was impressed. When I opened the box up and removed the actual ship, I was further impressed by the level of detail given within the framework of a supposed toy. This Diamond Select Star Trek ship is Diamond Selects finest work to date in my opinion. I suspect others may agree with me. The level of detail is that of models costing three to five times as much and requiring hours of extensive work. All that was required here was remove the ship. Turn the activation button from demo to active. Place the ship on its display stand and admire a true work of art. I only wish such work could have been utilized on all the ships that Diamond Select has created thus far. Everything from light bleed to cheap plastic and non supportive stands have been reported on the other ships. As well as various anomalies like dirt and erroneous lettering. The Bird of Prey is a true work of art in my humble opinion. While not on par with models costing hundreds, even thousands more, this replica does precisely what it was intended and at a fraction of the cost. That plus the fact, it is available right away, makes it a great buy and a great collector piece of Star Trek history. Mine is displayed on a coffee table along with the Haynes Technical Data Manual on this particular ship. The ship itself has a very nice paint scheme along with Klingon lettering and identification. The wings are three way positionable. The lighting/sound system is reasonably loud and is activated by a button located nearest the bridge. The lights are beautiful. Three colors are used to denote different aspects of the ship. Red for Photon torpedo and engine. Green for phaser. A dim yellow hue for the various windows. The voice you will here is that of Klingon General Chang. The ship, I presume is loosely based upon that of the Klingon Bird of Prey we see in Star Treks "The Undiscovered Country". This particular ship was a first in that is was fully capable of firing weapons while in cloaked mode. The ship is a good representation of General Chang's ship for the most part. His voice is nicely replicated and sounds clear and it is Chang speaking. The stand is perfectly suited for the ship and is in the shape of the Klingon Symbol. Diamond Select did a very good job replicating this particular Star Trek ship. Along side all other Klingon ship attempts, like Playmates, this ship is vastly superior in both detail and
construction. I paid a little over 90 dollars for mine. At least 20 plus being for delivery expedited. As far as any complaints. None. I am absolutely impressed with this model. Diamond Select may or may not read these reviews, but on the off chance they do, I would like to personally thank them for creating such a wonderful model of the Klingon Bird of Prey. Further, It is my sincere hope they create the Star Ship Voyager with the level of detail that the Bird of Prey has. One final feature. Hold the light sound activation button down and watch as the lights stay on until you decide to depress the button again and turn the lights off. Do this in a dark room and see for yourselves how nice the lights look. Compared to the Enterprise D, the Bird of Prey is a ten and the D is a 9 for lack of ability to keep the lights on. Still, these two iconic ships head to head look terrific. I highly recommend the Klingon Bird of Prey and Amazon for the purchase. You will not be disappointed.

4.0 su 5 stelle The Bird of Prey Klingon is a fine piece, very well detailed 30 luglio 2015
Di Reinaldo - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

The Bird of Prey Klingon is a fine piece, very well detailed, and the sounds and lights are nice. Unlike the Enterprise D that lacks lights on the saucer section, this one has fewer lights, especially because of the ship design. The biggest problem with this ship is the display stand. It's too high and it's not steady enough for the ship size. This is a recurrent problem, as the same happened with The Enterprise D, big enough for the swinging display stand. But coming back to The Bird of Prey, it's a beautiful ship, it gets awesome displayed and it's definitely worth having. I hope Diamond Select can improve the display stands in future models and give the lights more attention. That's it.

5.0 su 5 stelle almost flawless 23 maggio 2013

This Klingon Bird of Prey is almost flawless. Diamond Select did a great job painting the Bird of Prey with detail and weathering. I love the feature that allows you to change the wings. The sound features are pretty cool. I usually don't like like it when the sound features are just quotes from the movies, but this one has General Chang quoting Shakespeare - how cool is that!

That said, there's one small flaw with the ship. The red band (cloaking device) on the front of the ship is only partly painted. The top and front side are painted in red, but the bottom side isn't fully painted. From certain angles, the band looks too small. It's certainly not enough to kill the product, but I just wish Diamond Select took better care to catch these sorts of problems.

I feel this is the best offering from Diamond select.

(Pro)
Excellent detail
sounds are clear
led lights are very clear and bright
adjustable wings are a very nice touch

(Con) it did have one slight paint error, one that I will touch up later.

4.0 su 5 stelle Best Ready Made Klingon Bird of Prey Available 22 ottobre 2013
Di Michael W - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I was weighing between a few of Diamond Select Star Trek ships to choose from. It dawned on me from searching on the internet that the most perfect representation that Diamond Select had to offer was the Klingon Bird of Prey. The reason is simple: All windows are lit(however few they are), it has light on feature and the paint job and weathering made it somewhat worthy to be collectible item instead just a toy. To me it's probably the best Star Trek ship Diamond Select has to offer so far.

And when my Bird of Prey arrived yesterday I could see the reason it was a favorite to many people. The paint job and weathering though not as good as one would get with a model kit are not bad at all for a ready made toy (It very much looks plastic in bright light so it looks better in lower light condition). The audio is loud and clear. The lighting is powerful too. In fact I could spot some light bleeds from the inside of the ship due to the plastic being too thin or not properly painted(coated) in thickness. That's probably my only gripe about this model. For US$64.00 it's quite a fair price though I paid a lot more than that due to shipping and import fees(In fact I paid about twice the price). The ship itself is quite big in size and made from plastic which feels durable enough (but do not drop it). Fun factor is pretty high because all the sounds and voices it makes when you push the button AND the light on feature so you can gaze upon it in low light admiring the silhouette.

If you're not looking for perfection which you would be better off with a model kit then this is the one model for you. It's the best ready made Klingon Bird of Prey(B'rel class) available.

Now I'm saving up to buy the Enterprise D from Diamond Select. The price for me gets more than double with shipping and import fee. But I love that Enterprise-D so sooner or later I've got to have it. I read that Diamond Select was going to re-release Enterprise-D in January 2014. Maybe I'll wait until then since the price will be fairer instead the current whopping US$85.00 excluding shipping fee to half way around the globe and import fee.
