The author has an interesting success story and is a definable success, but he writes as if the whole 'disruption' approach is some kind of crusade where it's the best way to succeed. Sure the internet has created much disruption to mainstream business models, but it's hardly the only way to make money or create a successful business. Finding common problems, creating solutions for those problems and then profiting from them is not new or rocket science. Some valid points and some interesting stories, but the book feels padded and at $10 is too expensive.

I have never read a book PACKED WITH SO MANY GEMS!!! I highlighted 323 passages in the book along with making 52 notes. Jay's book is transformative. Alan Kay said "point of view is worth 80 IQ points". Disrupt You will definitely change your point of view in many dimensions. Additionally it provides many frameworks with examples that can help guide you on your new quest. And after reading, digesting and installing Disrupt You internally, you then will be on a path to providing empowering enrichment for yourself and the world around you!!! ENJOY!!!

This book is revelatory. When looking at the newest generation of business books, from Tim Ferriss to James Altucher to Josh Kaufman, I'm finding that the secret to surviving and thriving in this new economic environment is learning to deconstruct the world around us, and reconstruct its constituent parts through either applying accelerated learning techniques, generating new and executable ideas, or finding 'muses' to generate income by taking advantage of upcoming trends, personally observed. I originally saw Jay talk about this book at a conference a few weeks ago, and on the strength of that presentation pre-ordered the book on Kindle. I'm still reading it a week later, and going back again and again to glean further insights from his extensive business experience. I also enjoy the very interesting stories of the ways he has personally capitalized on using his powers of observation, deconstruction, and out-of-the-box execution methods over the years - which, most importantly for me, he lays out very clearly in this book. 'Disrupt You!' not only tells you what and how it happened, but it also serves as a thumbnail, as-seen-from-an-inside-observer's history of the changes that technology has made on our world in the last thirty years. Highly recommended.

Jay's book is really good as it provides a great landscape of the various methods one can use to identify new ideas and strategies to put them to execution. The book is full of great stories, examples and inspirational quotes (often from Jay directly). Jay definitely had an amazing and impactful life and he saw, front seat, the disruption of a major industry (Entertainment) which allows him to share his experiences and guidance for those executives that may think it cannot happen to them. The book is a great read for aspiring entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and any marketing, manager who wants to stay abreast of recent big trends. As the world economic forum predicts that we are entering the 4th industrial revolution which will be made of more, bigger disruptions: This is the book to read to help you survive, disrupt instead of being disrupted! Don't hesitate get it, very much worth it.
