Sinossi

These are the real-life teenage diaries of Marita A. Hansen written between 1988 and 1993, where boys, sport, boys, and family, and boys are her major priorities, and did I mention boys? You will either cringe or laugh out loud as she blunders her way through multiple crushes in her final years of high school. And when she finally gets the boy, she continues to blunder.

So, have a peek into the mind of this 'adorkable' teenage girl before the woman she has grown into realises she's made a mistake publishing her diaries.

I'm a fellow kiwi who grew up in the same era so really related to this diary. The author was a very sweet and endearing teenager, awkward and trying to figure out her place in the world, whilst at the same time obsessing over the mysterious (an often very annoying!) opposite sex. I definitely recommend this diary for those wanting a glimpse of innocent times gone by.

The late 80s/early 90s was proberly the last generation where teenagers were innocent. This was certainly much more innocent than my teenage diaries which was written between the ages of 14 and 19. Mines much more smutty but then a was a teenager in the naughties :P I dread to think what teenagers diaries are like now, I imagine most can pass for erotica! It's actually quiet refreshing to read something like this and it's certainly a contrast to the books Marita normally writes!

This book will make you think back to days long gone. My mind kept flipping back to my own teenage years and some of the problems we had were similar, like not being allowed to shave our legs! That was so annoying! Although I was only 13 when me and my mum were having this disagreement, just goes to show you how much times have changed. I really wanted to do it becuase I was one of the last girls in my year to do it. Must have been horrible to have to wait until you were 17! Worrying that I was never going to get a boyfriend EVER! Come to think of it, I'm really glad I'm not a teenager anymore! I would not relive them years for all the money in the world.

The cultural differences kept making me say "Well thats not fair" I'm sitting here with the heating turned up, wrapped in a blanket while Marita is having BBQ's and going to the beach in DECEMBER! Also school seems to be longer, which is not so great.

Overall I thought this book was really sweet. I think most girls will find something they like here, not sure about boys but then they are a different species altogether. I also loved that lots of books were mentioned. Books talked about in other books always gets a thumbs up from me. Well worth a peek!

Worst read ever. Total waste of time. I would give no stars, but that isn't allowed. Go search elsewhere for another book.

Strangely entertaining story. Seeing the world through a teenage girls eyes. This was a good read and I would recommend it.
