I upgraded from a 970 and im still only playing at 1080p but can increase everything on the games I play. Gta 5 8x msaa anyone... Battlefield 1 ultra and 140 scaling 100 125 fps. It's silent, I run some bench and stress tests and it peaked to 70 degrees after half an hour of furmark and it was still so quiet, the fan sitting at around 70%. When you turn the fan to 100 it is quite loud, but I don't think you need a fan profile that extreme. I don't think the fans even kick in until at least 55 degrees.
This is in a quite oldie but good system. I7 2600k and 16 gig of ram, ssd and a half decent gigabyte motherboard.
Im made up with this purchase, great card and played pubg today and had naff all stuttering unlike the 970. Although that 970 played the game flawlessly it did have hiccups every here and there. This seems to just breeze it.
The card is beautifully presented, the packaging is functional, rather than artistic, which is definitely a point in its favour (though I could have done without the poster...), and uses only the 8pin connector, rather than the 8+6pin that the 760. All I did was shut down the computer, swap the cards over, restart the computer, and that was that. Nothing needed to be done, other than set up the custom configuration I use in the Nvidia control panel to activate the 75Hz WQHD refresh that my big monitor uses. It just worked. Which is what you really look for in a piece of hardware. There are, apparently, LEDs on the card the light up to show the EVGA logo. They're inside the case, so I don't see them.
Speedwise it's a perfect match for my monitor, mentioned above. The games all zip along, Vsynced at 75Hz. I don't play any particuarly gruelling games, I have Doom 2016, Motorsport Manager, Pillars of Eternity, World of Warcraft, Diablo III (I think - the most recent), they all have everything in graphics turned up to 11, they look stunning, and never skip a frame. Milkdrop - the awesome plug in for the venerable WinAmp has doubled in speed, and again, looks utterly marvellous.
The card is, to all intents and purposes, silent. I'm going to have to buy a new case fan, as it now sounds loud. Even after 2ish hours of gaming, the graphics card didn't switch its fans on - which is good, as I use the machine in my living room as a home theatre a lot of the time, the extra silence is golden.
Okay, it's not cheap (but less than a GTX1080 :), but it does everything you want in a graphics card for running games at HD-2k resolution. If you want to run 4k games, you're probably looking at at least one 1080 or SLI. I'm very happy with this card.
EDIT: Added the final star. After a couple of weeks playing and stressing this card as much as I can, all I can say is that it just eats the stress and lets me play - the fans have never switched on, and games have never been better.
Performance benchmarks can be found online anywhere but just as a synopsis for any newcomers: 1440p gaming at Ultra 60FPS for all AAA titles, 4K gaming is slightly out of reach but can be reached on most games with settings turned down. If you're looking for 4K gaming as a set standard and hate having too much money in your pocket, look at buying two of these and you'll be set for 4K gaming for years to come.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else this card can do as more visually impressive games are being released this year; as of yet I have nothing but the highest of praise for what is undeniably a BEAST of a card.
It has arrived the very next day with Amazon Prime and was well protected.
Now, this GPU is big and long which shouldn't be an issue if you're using it on an open rig or in a closed case that is of at least of a normal size.
GPU is easy to install, pretty much ready to go and would suggest to get yourself an EVGA Precision X oc program to control how much strain you are or will put on it as well as controlling the fan speed. It has a lovely LED light shinning at the top of it which looks superb and is quiet compared to other same range and class GPU's. Its electricity usage is low and even on highest setting of a game with an average demand, it is barely noticable.
Now, here's the deal, I've bought this cars for my daughter's computer and has leaked the fliud after 3 months or so after normal kids games usage. We were pleased to receive a replacement which has sadly lasted also only 3 months in same conditions as the previous one!
Why it leaked was and still is beyond my ability of understanding it and maybe we was just unlucky.
