I took a good amount of time to read this book as I truly wanted to absorb it in the full extent it was written. I feel the Holy Sprit was completely involved while this was written. I found myself going back over it again and again. This is a true Spiritually inspired and effectively written guide to understanding The Lords Prayer. Amen, Shirley Collum

Wow. What a great and very practical book on the Lords prayer. I love how Warren broke down this familiar prayer into digestible pieces for a better understanding. The book challenges us as Christians to take The Lords prayer more to heart and to live it out in our daily lives, which make Christ and God more real in our lives. Outstanding job.

I read this book last summer (2010) and found it incredibly inspiring. I knew then that I wanted to run a bible study using this book. The author completely breaks down the Lords Prayer, so each chapter deals with just one line (or three or four words) of the Lord's Prayer. He shows how the Lords Prayer reveals God, our relationship with God and our relationship with each other as a faith community. Through breaking down the Lords Prayer, he shows us the basic model of prayer that Jesus taught, and how the Lords prayer is all encompassing, without rambling on, and provides us with a basic prayer model that you can use to create your own complete prayers to God. At the end of this month I have a ten week bible study starting using this book. We will read one chapter a week and come together to discuss it. I wish the book had study questions at the end of each chapter, but there are tons of wonderful thought provoking ideas to discuss in each chapter. Each chapter is also full of bible references from both old and new testaments. It is a great book even for the advanced bible student. I am looking forward to the group discussions. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone searching for a deeper connection with God.
P.S. I read this in the paperback book format.

While written in the style of its time, Wiersbe's thorough work on the Lord's prayer should still resonate with anyone seeking insight into not just the prayer, but the Lord of the prayer. The writer draws heavily on references from throughout the Bible to illustrate the significance of this relatively short passage from the New Testament book of Matthew. Because of that, it will help the reader to have reasonable familiarity with biblical stories and themes. And since Dr. Wiersbe was first and foremost a pastor, his writing reflects a pastoral approach, shepherding his readers toward understanding and conclusions that not only make intellectual sense but carry life-changing implications. I think you'll leave the book surprised at how much meaning in packed in the 5 short verses from Matthew that we commonly call The Lord's Prayer.

Another great book by Warren Wiersbe. Since the BE series, I've been reading a lot of books by Warren Wiersbe. He is very good and I can always count on something to make me think in each of his books. On Earth as it is in Heaven did not disappoint me! One of my favorite quotes in this book is, 'When it comes to our obligations to God, we are so spiritually bankrupt we can't begin to pay for forgiveness or even make adequate restitution for the damage and pain we have caused.'
